Conquering The Fear Of Entering SP (Need Help)

Hello everyone, I'm just having a very hard time entering SP from a waking state... Let me explain.

I've awoken once from SP, and that first time was not pleasant at all. I literally felt as if I was dying. It felt like my body was failing and shutting down and my soul was leaving body into the spiritual world. Followed by glitchy visions like my room turned half black and white and all staticy, as well as loud screeching sounds in my ears like running nails down a chalkboard, followed by a deafening roar of static.

As for entering SP from an awake state, I've experienced it about 10+ times to date. And every time I start to notice it I tell myself this is nothing to be afraid of, it's all natural. So I relax and let it take over my whole entire body. I start to feel as if I'm getting very heavy and a sensation as if sand were being poured into my body. Almost as if I am being buried alive. THIS is what freaks me out so much, I feel as if "I am being buried alive." I start to panic as soon as I feel my body being paralyzed and I have this fear that I will be frozen the entire duration of sleep and will be trapped that way until I struggle to awaken myself.

I never have gotten passed this 1st phase, I don't even know whats beyond that...

So what should I do? I'm stumped.

P.S. Also what happens after SP? Are you just stuck in a state of limbo? Is something supposed to happen? I've had about 5 lucid dreams total so far but they were all DILD. So I have no idea what to expect when taking advantage of SP.

SP is not a necessary step for WILD, I'm sure there are some folks on here who do WILD without it.

      Good luck

EDIT: You won't be stuck that way for long, have a read around some WILD tutorials, but I can tell you that much.

Does nobody have any advice for overcoming the fear of SP? I'm just seeking advice on how to get comfortable with SP so I can pass through all it's phases. I'm not doing any techniques. I go into SP randomly and would like to take advantage of it whenever it occurs, that's all.

I don't think anyone can give you an advice to conquer the fear of SP.

I'm also trying to ""conquer the fear"", I've had 2 SP (or pre-SP) experiences, with only vibrations and difficulty to move (not entire paralysis), so I get scared and move a finger and I get out of it.

It's like on the day I'm like "Tonight if I get SP, I won't get scared", but then the night comes and I'm like "I'm not going to try it!"

The only way to conquer the fear I think is when the time of SP comes, just let it happen and think "I will get NO harm", and really believe it..That's what I'm going to try.

      BTW, a question:

I have seen many stories where people feel like if they were being choked or getting suffocated, even though it's not real, I wouldn't really like that to happen, so my question is, if you're not scared of it (Thinking: I will get no harm), will you still get that hallucination?

It's been widely documented that it's better to word affirmations positively. So, instead of saying something like, "I won't get scared of SP", you say, "I'll stay calm during SP."
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

It's good that you get SP randomly, a lot of us struggle to even get there.
Whilst it may be intimidating at first, just relax and enjoy the ride and keep thinking positive. I haven't panicked before, but it probably would get bad if you did. I've heard of some people manipulating the strange sounds they hear into music of their own choice. Once you get to SP just think to yourself that you're close to gaining lucidity.

Here's two things Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) www.emofree.com & the Option Method by Mandy Evans. Both of these are great inexpensive ways to deal with just about any personal hang up. Try the EFT it is free first. If you know what the problem is then this is all you need. If you don't know what the real problem is it would be worth it to purchase and read the small volume at amazon.com. It will reveal to you your belief system that keeps your fears in place & more than likely dissolve it forevermore. However, the dissolution is secondary which is where the EFT is a great tool to finish the job

Have you ever seen a huge roller coaster, been forced to go on, been absolutely terrified going up that first hill, and then loved it? SP is like that. Once you get used to it, you'll love the sensations. Just keep your eyes closed and remember that none of it is real.

      Hi Alchera,

I know how terrible the fear can be. Maybe you should pray, or chant a mantra- as i did and my SP turned to something spiritual and calming. Propably it neednt have to be of religious nature, just some phrase, that will make you feel comfortable, just like a magic spell.

Good luck with conquering your fear!

Making peace with death is another incredibly beneficial experience that will enrich your life. For me this means giving up any attitude that keeps me from being peaceful & loving when it counts the most; which is eternally here & now

If you still have yet to conquer your fear of SP, there is a technique that allows you to skip that phase of the WILD with a little bit of determination and practice. Here is the link: http://dreamviews.com/community/showthread.php?t=87710. Good luck with whichever one you choose

I can't tell you much from personal experience--I've gotten to weird body sensations, but not all the way to SP--but when I get scared, I have invoked help from some unseen entity that is meaningful to me.

If you're religious, that could be God or Mother Mary or the Buddha, or what have you, and if not, it could be your beloved grandmother in heaven or departed pet, for instance. You could say, "Are you there? Do you think everything is going to be OK? Will you stay with me while I do this?"

I tried this a few days ago when I thought I was approaching SP and got a bit freaked out, and it was quite comforting.
