How to find out when to wake up without an alarm?

So, ive heard that using an alarm can negatively impact your chances of getting a wild and I don't naturally wake up during the night a lot, so if anyone could share how they found out their rem cycles that would be greatly appreciated.

I found you can greatly increase your chances of waking up during the night by setting a clear intention before bed. Say to yourself “I’m going to wake up after every REM cycle and remember my dreams” for me this worked after a couple of days and I was waking 3-5 times a night. You must do this with conviction for it to work. Go to sleep wanting to wake up. Make sure to note down what time you wake and it becomes clear rather quickly what times you naturally wake in the night. Doing this every night can become exhausting so once you’ve figured out your best times just focus on waking up at those times. Change your mantra to “I will wake up at 5am” for example. If you can wake naturally after 5-6 hours of sleep you have a good chance of hitting the sweet spot. Good luck

Another helpful trick is to drink a lot of water before bed, then, when you get up to use the restroom, drink more water. Journal at those times, too. You will get in a habit of waking up every couple hours. Setting the habit is so important. Do it for a few nights in a row, and you won't need the water anymore.
