      My First (Failed) WILD Attempt

So i tryed my first WILD last night and would like to know what i may have done wrong in my attempt.
Well i was shocked awake by a strange dream i had and found myself awake at 4:00 (i fell asleep around 12). I played a few games of Jetpack Joyride on my phone to make myself awake i also walked around my room abit (in the dark) I lied back down and imagined a dream scape id like to vist.
Suddenly thoughts of my general life kicked in and i lost concentration i gained it back but the next thing i know im awake in bed in the morning.
      My questions :
Was my inability to WILD because of the way i awoke?
      How to keep concentration more?
And is it possible to completely forget a WILD as if it were a normal dream?

      Hi theBigZ, and welcome!

First, I highly recommend that you check out my WILD class in DV Academy; I think you might find it helpful.

In reading your summary I found a couple of things. First, being shocked awake is not a good thing for WILD, because shocks usually fully fire up your reticular system (the bit of your brain in charge of waking you up). Next, you took your mind off dreaming by playing a video game -- also you did this in the name of waking up more, which is a thing you really don't want to do during WILD's Wake Back to Bed (WBTB) step. That game-playing, mixed with the abrupt awakening, could certainly have been what brought about the thoughts of general life... in a sense, your actions invited those thoughts.

      Now to your specific questions:
Was my inability to WILD because of the way i awoke?
      Probably, as noted above.

      How to keep concentration more?
That's a complex answer, but it comes down in the end to your own patience, interest, and daytime prep. I go into this in detail in that course, BTW.

And is it possible to completely forget a WILD as if it were a normal dream?
It's possible to forget any experience, period. But, since WILD is a conscious event equal to any in waking life, it will be stored as a waking-life conscious event, rather than as a regular non-lucid dream, which is generally not stored at all. On top of that, since a lucid dream is a very prominent conscious event, it will likely be stored in long-term memory as an important event. So, though a WILD might be forgotten, odds are you'll remember it like any other waking-life event, if not more so. As a matter of fact, my personal rule of thumb is that if I can't remember it, it probably was not a LD.

I hope that helped; good luck on your next dive!

Well depending on how shocking your dream was, you might have been to stressed and uncomfortable, and i think you were when you need to take a little walk in your room after it
But nevertheless i think it doesnt matter what way you wake up what brings me to my answer to the second question:
      How to keep concentration more?
Forget everything that makes you feel uncomfortable, be relaxed, do progressive muscle relaxation, lie on your back, keep your head as low as possible so you face the ceiling, then get reeeeeaaaaalllyyyyy relaxed.
Imagine the dream scape you want to get into, and then wait.
Pay no attention to your real body at all.
      why that?
because when you do, you will probably still go into sleep paralysis, but it wont kick in like a bomb so that youre completely paralysed, for example if you concentrate on your right arm it will suddenly start happening on your right arm, and it will probably scare the fuck out of you like someone rubbing your arm lol. I dont know about you but thats for me.

after entering sleep paralysis concentrate on the dream you want to have or maybe the dream scape you want to get, and think of nothing else, dont get creeped out by the sensation,
just be like you dont care about anything else than succeeding in WILDing,
      and DONT force yourself awake.
btw I wouldnt recommend binaural beats as they have a mental effect on me like coffee has.
is it possible to completely forget a WILD as if it were a normal dream?
Not as if it was a normal dream, but you can actually forget a lucid dream completely.
      Happened to me this morning.

      Write dream journals http://www.dreamviews.com/blog_post.php?do=newblog
that will help you remember your stuff and pay more attention to what is real and what is not, which in the end is what gets you lucid.

Best wishes for you, good luck and dream on
