      Scared of Lucid Dreams

I've been planning to attempt a WILD for some time now. The only problem is: I'm scared of what might go wrong once I become lucid. The main cause of this fear is my fear of spiders. I'm very scared of them. The thought that I might accidentally think of spiders once I'm lucid makes me shiver.
My first lucid dream occured some days ago, completely by accident. It was pretty cool. But, one of the first thoughts in my head was "Don't think of spiders!". The dream ended shortly afterwards.

Don't be scared, lucid dreams are awesome! Just remember that nothing in a dream can hurt you. Lucid dreams are actually a great way to get over your fears!

Dude, spiders freak me out too. :X Anyway, just thinking about them really won't do much, they're not going to appear out of nowhere unless you command them to. You're in control, remember that.

What woodstock said. I've gotten over so many little fears in my life by making them appear in both lucid and non-lucid dreams.

You know what, from the beginning, I was so scared, that I'll have a scary thought and it will turn into lucid nightmare. But funny thing happens as soon I get lucid. All, and I mean ALL my fears disappear. All I see is fun and happy thoughts.

I'm scared of hights. But the first thing I do when lucid is I jump out of first window I see and go flying. In my last LD, I flew up to tallest building I could find and threw myself off. It was so much fun, it woke me up.

So try having happy thoughts. Think about LD as an amusement park that you control. KNOW, that nothing bad is going to happen. Prepare some magic tricks like in Harry Potter or your favorite cartoon you can use to make the spiders disappear, just in case. You will feel better, that you will have a weapon against them. Happy dreams

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.”

Think about this, do you really want a fear of something that you know isn't even real, to stop you from experiencing all the beautiful things you can do in a dream?

Sure spiders are scary, so is Slenderman.. (Sorry for giving your mind ideas ^-^) Anyway you need to overcome the fear and realize that there is no reason to be afraid of them, not even in real life (unless they are deadly posionous). Be in control of your emotions, don't let them be in control of you. I know it's easy for me to say, but you have to rationally understand that there is nothing to be afraid of in order to overcome it.

That's one way, another is to use the Ridiculous method. You probably have seen Harry Potter yeah? HP3 - Spider on skates - YouTube

Make the fear fun, so fun that you even want the biggest fear to appear so you can have your little fun with it. And when you want it to appear it probably wont. However if it do appear, you are prepared of how to deal with it. Or even better, become a friend with the spider and let it become your protector! That way you might even stop fearing real spiders as well.

What's the similarity between a nightmare and a bogart?

      - They can't approach or hurt people that have no fear!

When I visit a "haunted" house with my friend's for fun, and when they are almost so scared that they p*ss their pants, I am usually the "bravest" one there. I am of course afraid at first, but when I stop and observe my own thoughts and think "Well we are here to see the ghost aren't we?" So instead of fearing it, I look for it and if it appears I will be so happy that I hug it, because by then I will know that they exist and I got it proven. Although... that usually never happens, because we don't find any ghost... xD

But you see what I am trying to say? Make the fear useful or understand that there is nothing to fear at all.

      Good luck

i had a scary lucid last night. Whenever i die in a dream, It always scares me. Last night, i was looking in the sky and saw a UFO. I did my reality check which i count my fingers and my hands were messed up. I knew i was dreaming and knew what was gonna happen. The UFO exploded and i heard people scream (this always freaks me out becuause it sounds so real), and it feels like an earthquake/shockwave hits me. I died in the lucid and woke up. Ive had this happen to me multiple times and sometimes its scary and sometimes its amazing.

I was afraid of insects, dark, satan and others. They were all phobias. You know what distinguishes fear from phobia? Fear is an instinct. stops you from doing stupid stuff like jumping from a skyscraper and probably killing yourself, so it's important. Phobia is an irrational fear, that has been "planted" to you because of various environmental characteristics that aren't meant to affect you, but they found you because of human evolution (like horror films). So after that it was easy to kill my phobias. After I started lucid dreaming, I found out that I and only I am in control of my mind. Lucid dreaming helps you overcome phobias, not triggering them, remember, you are a god in your dream, if you are conscious of it. Does god fear spiders? God created spiders. Your mind is creating everything and you have nothing to fear but yourself. So now there's nothing left of those phobias in me, you can put me on the edge of a scyscraper, blindfolded, with my hand full of spiders and bees listening to a demonic voice saying "now you'll jump and go to hell" and I would still jump. With a parachute of course!

      Hope that helps a bit

im brand new to lucid dreaming (had a 15 min ld the other night and thats it) but the first thing i wanted to happen in a lucid dream is to meet my fears (mainly hights and bees) and so when i had my first i was prepared to go head long into it, i conciously knew that bees wouldent hurt me if i didnt provoke them and even if i did the most they could do is a bothersome sting. so come my first i spent most of my time running around goofing off and such but the last minute or so i calmed down, and purpously made a swarm of bees apear around me, i was scared as heck but i kept still and just sat in that swarm for the last minute as my fear subsided. after i woke up i excitedly wrote down the happenings of my dream and went off to school, at lunch i was sitting outside and a bee flew right over and landed ON MY HAND, now normaly i would probably pass out from this, but i just looked at it, my heart was racing, my mind still thinking i had somthing to fear, but i just looked at it and it flew off. now i still allmost had a heart atack from it but afterwards i felt empowered, like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders. now my next ld is dedicated to coming up with the most traumatic bee senario i can think of and survivng it, then after i wake up im going to go sit in a nice patch of flowers with a few bees and hope for the best.

anyways sorry for the long drawn out storry but my bottom line is: dont be afraid of finding a fear in your dreams, look forward to it, bucause while it can be realy scary, the results can be worth it.
