On the verge of Wild, need of a few tips, pointers, spoilers

Just about, every night I have been practicing for 3 months, (Practiced for 3 months 2-4 months ago but lost focus after my first WILD attempt)
Meditating, being aware, focusing on sleep spindles, focus
and have recently found Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep)
which I've had much success as a great relaxation process that pulls me in nrem 3 in about 20-30 minutes maybe less maybe more depending on the day
Which reduces back to nrem 2 as sleep spindles.
and moves back to nrem 3 in greater intensity with a sense of increased motion,
But I seem to be moving back and forth between these stages of sleep
and just about always when I seem to give up,
I'll check that clock and I've been their 40-50 minutes.
I do this before bed, and sometimes as an afternoon or evening nap.

If I'm doing this before bed, would it be that I need to wait 10-30 more minutes for a dream to form?
Maybe I should be focusing on the HH images in my mind, and help them expand into a dream with my senses?
Or I could just enter the dream , holding focus on my body HH sensations

Few ideas, from researching a bit through the web

I know the feeling modoro when I did my WILD attempts before bed I also gave up after about 40-45 minutes and I thought that all I needed to do was to wait 30 minutes or at the highest 50 minutes more! And one time I managed to wait for 30 minutes more and by then my body was getting so hot that it was painful it was literally torture, then I fell asleep and got a DILD and woke up 00:15 which is basically the first REM period. So I thought about this and then asked myself what's the point of trying to WILD 1 hour and 30 minutes before it's even possible when you can just fall asleep and either become aware in the dream or wake up and chain it and DEILD in a few seconds.

I know how you feel you want to learn to WILD so you can get lucid at will, and even though you can do that with DEILD as well, you still rather want to learn it the traditional way.
I wouldn't be able to convince myself to stop when I did so I guess I can't convicne you. So if you later on find that WILD is more challenging that you thought remember that DEILD is still available to you. However it should be mentioned that I still kind of do a WILD attempt at bedtime, not because I expect to succeed, but because I notice that I am more aware of my dreams that way.

But just remember that everytime you do a traditional WILD attempt at bedtime, you are basically declaring war with your physical body.
So arm your mind and metaphorical speaking as Neo would say "We need guns lots of guns.."

      Good luck soldier!

I haven't had success with WILD before bed, or even afternoons.
( I never experience the stereotypical sleep paralysis stages, and can relate to the 40-50 minutes on the clock...)
But I think you're wasting your time on the wild @ night, because you could easily use those same 40-50 minutes to actually fall asleep.
Set an alarm, and then try the WBTB. If you're going to spend this much time to LD, why not experience one ?

Well, you picked a challenge man. Those 50 minutes isn't enough, i believe you need to go through NREM2 at least twice so you can have those 5-10 minutes of REM. I'm uncertain of how much time it takes, as i rarely keep time. Yes, it sucks that badly...

I won't disencourage you from practicing your awareness though. I've done it myself and still do on occasion.

Three different examples of personal experieces regarding WILD-attempts without prior sleep. This might give you a hint of what to expect. Here you go.

Once i entered short blurry WILD with lousy visuals after an awareness battle that lasted for what i believed to be 2 hours, this is what succeeding is like.

One time i managed to put myself in a meditative trance that felt like it lasted for 3-4 hours, meaning i missed REM at least once. No dream for me..

Another time i went into a deep state of wierd trance that almost felt unbreakable, while i had a unbearable burning feeling in my head, unlike anything i've ever experienced. It also felt as i lost all aspects of what defined me, while not being able to grasp anything i saw. Watching was all i could do. Eventually i managed to break it by manipulating my visuals into some kind of spiral, that somehow created a tactile sensation slowly dragging me out of it. Thanks for that one, stupid force of will

      Greetings, Tucane

Almost managed a FILD this morning (it's a kind of WILD), but failed for one reason.

So here is my advice to you:
Don't give in to the urge to swallow. If you do, your body will basically go "nice try pal, almost had me fooled for a moment there. too bad, no lucid dreams for you."
Just resist it and hopefully it should pass.
