Going to attempt WILD... am I ready?

Initially I wasn't going to attempt WILD because I was a bit afraid (such a wimp) but after reading tutorials, and wanting another LD so bad I'm going to attempt it!

Last night I 'practiced' by relaxing, and counting and visualising like the tutorials I have read sai to do. I did feel myself going into a weird trance where I couldn't feel my body, but then I let myself sleep.

I'm going to attempt it for real this time, here is what I have figured I should do but, please, if I have got it wrong let me know!!!

      1. Go to sleep, set my alarm to wake me after 5 hours.
      2. Upon waking, go to the bathroom, switch on the light and write a text on my phone to 'wake up' the logic centers of my brain. Stay awake for 5 minutes at least.
      3. Go back to bed, lay comfortable and relax.
      4. Breathe steady, let all thoughts go and ignore my body... etc Start counting and picture the numbers flashing up in my mind. Repeat 'I am dreaming.' in between numbers
      5. As I start to dream, remain calm and enjoy it. Visualise my dreams.
      6. Hopefully, make the transition into a lucid dream.

I'm pretty confident I can do this, and I'm not going to be disappointed if I don't so there isn't too much pressure.

The only thought I have is that I may 'forget' what I am supposed to be doing, and not remember the next step!

I can see you sleep through your bedroom window. You're killing yourself with lucid dreaming.

Hmm looks good although remember to have your iPhone with low light intensity otherwise you might have some trouble falling back to sleep.

      Good luck!

Thanks for all the info and help!

      Last night I did try the WILD technique. Strangely enough I decided to try it without prior sleep (don't ask me why) this took a good hour before I really felt the effects, but here is the results;

Went to bed, relaxed, tried to get sleepy and restful. Took some time but finally felt in the right place.

Was continually interupted by random banging noises - was sleeping in a caravan and sounded like the walls moving / creaking? Never noticed this before so really annoyed me!!

Each time I was awoken I ignored it, and relaxed again - partners loud breathing kept me awake but after using it as a beat to keep my own breathing slow, it became unoticable.

After some time I was clearly getting close, I could not feel my body, I kept experiencing swaying / floating sensations and my 'mind' was totally immersed. I continued counting to ten, and saying ;I am dreaming' each time. I often lost my place and had to start over but remained calm.

After an unknown amount of time, my body lit up as if on fire, but not painful. I had vibrations running through my body, which I tried to feel and control (sort of worked) my ears popped as if I was underwater, and I tried to enjoy this strange sensation, telling myself I was about to enter a lucid dream!

Unfortunately I must have gotten too excited as I 'woke up'. I did a quick RC to make sure it wasn't a FA, which it wasn't. I jotted in my journal and tried to re-enter, but by then my heart was racing so fast and I was wide awake.

It did give me incentive to try WILDing again though! I was so close, I know that feeling that I entered was the same as the one from my previous lucid dream. I just have to stop getting so excited!!!

      Good attempt!

Although there is no cure for excitement, except doing it until you don't get excited anymore but actually bored

If you want to feel the sensation that you feel before entering a dream, I would suggest to try to do it in the morning. It might not feel the same for you but I'll explain to you how I feel it.

I wake up in the morning and feel that my awareness feels different somehow not exactly sure how to describe it it something you have to feel, but it feels different.
Then I close my eyes and daydream for a bit, and have you ever had the feeling of the daydream feeling more real for just a split second, you can try it right now.
I don't know but I can feel it become more real for just a short second and then I am back aware of myself again. But when I do it in the morning sometimes that real feeling remains and I hear the sound you hear when you yawn in the ears and feel a vibration which increases, then suddenly I am in the day dream and amazed over how real it feels. I then perform a quick reality check to ground the dream a little.
However it is a little hazy and I feel a small dizziness. I've never managed to control this fully no matter how many types of stabilization techniques I use.

Although that's another problem. But when you have learned YOUR sensations of the transition you can start looking for it at anytime. Yes you can WILD at any time... I have stopped believing that it's dependent on REM-sleep.
Although either way it's useful to know how it feels so you know that you can separate when you feel it or know when you already have!

You were so close! Try this again after a few hours of sleep, and you will succeed Also, don't give up, even if it feels like you are totally awake. You are not. Sometimes it takes a few waves of wackiness before you enter a dream.

      Ooh, their breath is warm
      And they smell like sleep
And they say they take me home
      Like poppies heavy with seed
They take me deeper and deeper
