      Question on SP sensations?

I 'attempted' a WILD after a short WBTB break as I had nothing to lose, as I usually drop off to sleep to carry out (if I'm lucky) a DILD early morning anyhow. I use the acronymn 'DILD', but generally I just become 'aware' it's a dream usually.

I just wanted to see what it felt like. I did reach the SP stage with the odd hypnagogic image afterwards - however after an hour I must have fallen asleep.

The SP feelings, which included the tingling, the numbness, etc. I encountered were absolutely amazing. It was worth it just for that alone, in itself!
I would'nt go as far as to say it was orgasmic, but it was a great experience. (This is from someone that has already had SP in dreams.)
Although I didn't 'WILD' as such, as I said I was attempting LD with my usual WBTB method.
However my main question is this: I have had these sort of feelings in waking life (usually when relaxed) even with eyes open, where your body feels all warm and numb, even to the point you do not want to move to break the relaxation.
I think even one time I felt this, it was as though I felt smaller.

So are these feelings of relaxation, or what? Has anybody else experienced this when awake, for example in the middle of the day?

I don't think I've ever experienced those kind of feelings in the day, but I find it quite hard to stay calm the few times this has happened to me. The sensations really get my heart pumping.

Hmm, I have done a lot of meditation and many of the feelings you mentioned (tingling, numb, warm) are those I experience once I go into a light trance. If the trance becomes too deep, I lose consciousness. So, I think those are signs of relaxation - deep relaxation in some cases. Some people also believe that the tingling and 'orgasmic-like' sensation is your own energy building up and preparing for OOBE or perhaps lucidness. (?) Most of my experience has been in meditation and my LDs have been DILD where I become hyper conscious but I have not and do not control my dreams. So, take it with a grain of salt. I'd keep trying and hopefully someone with actual WILD or MILD experience, unlike me, will pop in here and add their two cents!

No, it's a very good answer. Thanks.
Yes, I did wonder if it was a deep relaxation myself. When I initially tried the WILD exercise where I noticed the similarity of the feelings I had felt. I could'nt believe how blissful, etc. it was. It is hard to put into words.
I sometimes wonder when people are 'intentionally' trying WILD to gain an LD that they may be throwing the baby out with the bath water?
I think if you could bottle 'relaxation' then you would be very rich! (Some might say they already have - it's called BEER!)
Seriously: We seem to all strive for LD, me included. But in our waking lives stress is a very big threat. It is a killer. Sadly it is also part of the 24/7 western society we live in.

Maybe I should take up Meditation?

YES, *she says with complete bias* ! You would be surprised the experiences you can have while meditating. I think LD and meditating are not that different. But that's just my, ahem, unbiased opinion.

Thanks. No my heart rate probably went the other way!
You could always try a breathing exercise to try to control your heart rate?

Thanks, GoldenLight. I will bear that in mind. Any recommended reading suitable for beginners?

Nah. Just close your eyes, sit in a comfy position, listen to a calming CD with headphones or not, and watch the blackness behind your eyes, when your little chatterbox mind starts blabbing away, "Am I doing this right?" "It's not working, is it?", "Hm, wonder what time it is?"...on and on...just hear those comments and then realize you have become unfocused, return to looking at the blackness behind your eyes. I have a lot of meditation stuff on my DJ. If you ever wanna wade through - feel free or PM me.

Oh, Robstar, I like your quote about Thermodynamics, by the way.

I think I've had a few goes at meditating when I was younger, I've definitely felt the "rush" that you get from a deep state of relaxation.

      Many thanks for that. Cheers.

Oh, and I thought you were so clever to have made that up all by yourself! Just messing with ya!
