I finally was able to definitively WILD the other night. I had been trying out one of the techniques I read on the forums, where you relax your whole body by contracting and relaxing certain muscle groups, then count down from 100 on every exhale, keeping my natural breathing rhythm. Half the time I don't remember myself getting past 70 before I wake up the next morning, but I had progressively been getting farther and farther into my sleep state while remaining conscious.
Finally the other night, as I was drifting away and counting down, I suddenly felt myself go into sleep paralysis(or so I thought). I didn't hear or see anything, but I felt crazy (almost violent) vibrations in my legs. They were so other-worldly powerful that I immediately recognized them as sleep-related and nothing to be concerned with, and just spectated. After a very short burst of these vibrations, I felt (and kind of saw in my mind) myself being sucked feet first into my bed like water down a drain. I was simply gone in a split second. All I saw was black, and then very slowly and gradually from the center of the darkness, I saw a room, or setting for my dream start to materialize. It started at the center and then spread to all the edges of my periphery, and I was in the dream.
From then on I can't actually remember what my dream was about, or if I lost my lucidity, but I distinctly remember all that. I've always been really bad at recalling dreams, so I don't often realize I'm dreaming based on previous dreams. (unless they're super common dreams which I recognize as familiar settings)
Just thought I'd share that breakthrough. I owe it to this forum for sure, thanks!
P.S. If anyone has any tips on good ways to keep lucidity and stay focused on it once in a dream, please share them with me. I'd love to experience clarity if I can manage to do this again.
