Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.
More misleading sensationalist journalism. These are like magnetic pipelines, they carry charged particles from the sun to the earth, not instantaneously, but just like a pipe. It's not something where matter goes in one side and appears on the other instantly, even the charge particles don't transverse this instantly, they just follow flux lines from the sun, and hit a spot where the sun's flux lines merge into the earth's, and then funnel down earth's flux lines into the atmosphere. That spot is what they're calling a "portal", it's a portal like a port hole in a boat, not like a stargate, sorry. |
No need to apologize. If you notice, I posted two articles from NASA which explain the portals without the "scifi" speculations. Honestly though, I still don't understand exactly how it works. It seems like the portals are created when the magnetic waves of the sun touch the earth's allowing particles to diffuse into the atmosphere. Is this essentially just a way for sun particles to safely enter the earth's atmosphere? |

OP's gone off the deep end. |

It is like one of those plasma balls when you put your hand on it and a stream of plasma goes right to your hand. The plasma is ionized gases which react with magnetic fields. Same as the solar winds. |
The NASA articles never say anything about what the portals actually are. Like, what kinds of properties we're talking about. What is an "uninterrupted pathway" or whatever they called it? It might be they're using the word "portal" in these articles, hoping to elicit a certain reaction, but I bet this is more like, "a bunch of plasma at the same energy state" or something like that. It's definitely not like some wormhole to the land of Oz. |
Seems to be regions where the sun's magnetic field and the earth's magnetic field "tangle up", allowing charged particles following the sun's flux lines to cross into the earth's flux lines. |
Well a flux capacitor oughtta straighten that out. |
