      Why are goats seen as bad?

      Ok so we all know the devil is often portrayed as a goat-man, why is this? I mean I know snakes are seen as devilish because of the snake in the garden of Eden but why goats? It's like the parable of the sheep and the goats, the sheep are good I assume because they follow without question but why pick goats as bad? I mean eating goat and drinking goat milk isn't forbidden is it? Eating pork and shellfish is, don't think snake is..., but back on track, WHAT UP WITH GOAT HATING!?

      Ever heard of the Baphomet? I'm pretty sure that this is where the association comes from. Oh and by the way, the Baphomet is a symbol of The Lefthand Path---the path of the individual.

      seems to hint they turned stuff about the prophet Muhammed into evil.so what the devil is Muhammed...

      Ancient greeks loved goats, they in fact celebrated them.

      The Church invented Baphomet to discredit the Knights Templar. An artist made the goat painting.

      But beyond Baphomet, goats were demonized as a means of changing eras from aries to pisces. Old symbols were associated with evil, because they represented basic knowledge and truth. Controlling thi knowledge was a means of obtaining power.

      Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

      I thought it had to do with the association of the god Pan, a trickster, and the satyrs, horny drunks, both by Christian standards immoral???

      since christianity seemed to be 'founded' in rome, its definitely borrowed from the surrounding beliefs. maybe a way to demonize pagan gods??

      I want to say that was a 'later' idea that the devil has horns and hooves. I would think earlier Christians, only reading that he was a fallen angel, would imagine just that, an angel with maybe a dark halo. since I don't remember the goat like references in the bible?

      I wonder where the demonic bat wings come from?? dragons?
