I too agree with Tsen.

What the other dude was saying is like "OH, you should stop insulting the Nazis, the know they are right anyway, just ignore them'. Christianity is raping society, so everyone had the fullest right to criticize it.

I think political christianity is 'raping' society. but that still doesnt give a right to insult or being a total jerk to every christian you meet. a lot of us dont think christianity should get involve with politics, becuase politics are matters of the earth, when our first concern are matters of heaven.

Agreed. Which is why I'm not a jerk to every Christian I meet. I avoid the topic of religion as much as humanly possible. Like I said earlier, the only time I will get in anybody's face is if it's in a venue where that is considered appropriate (such as the R/S forum here) or if they bring it up first.

I agree as well.
It's perfectly okay, and in my opinion, fun to disagree with their views.
But most of them are actually good people. No one is right, whether or not they HAVE the "right" to insult a Christian for their beliefs.
It's okay to make fun of President Bush, however, for any reason.

Damn Emperor Constatine and his Edict of Milan, damn him!

They started mixing Christianity and politics in 313 and 1700 years of bloodshed later they're still using Christianity as a power-religion.

Needless to say I think much of the "Christian" World doesn't qualify to carry the label of "Christian" any longer... asuming it ever did.

I am not a Jerk to every Christian I meet. I know some Christians I get along with pretty well. On every topic but religion I have a conversation like with everyone else. On the topic on religion I totally bash their silly ideas, especially if I get them to a point where they don't have an awnser.

This happens to be the Religion/Spiritually forum, so yes, you see a lot of jerkyness from me.

Also, something occurred to me recently. Imagen I had I sign in my front yard saying 'God doesn't exist', a bumper-sticker saying: 'Religion is a lie', Imagen I would wear a necklace with the text 'Atheist 4 Life' on it. Christians would say that is stupid, lame and maybe even offensive.

However if Christians do it, put a cross in their front yard, have a JESUS IS THE LORD bumper sticker, having a bunch of crosses hanging from everywhere, then it is just fine. I don't get why a god that knows everything need to get his beautiful streets spammed with crosses all over the place. That annoys me, that all most all Christians can't be religious without having to somehow make it clear to everyone.

Conclusion: I hope someone invents a collective sign for Atheism, so Christians can see how lame it is to spread your gang-sign all over town.

Your point is? Wars were going on way before that aswell, it is not as if Christianity is responsible for the violence on Earth.

So I still project my atheism towards 100% of the people I talk to on msn.

Yes, but I think Christianity is perhaps one of the easiest recognized symbols of "religion". At least, a lot of people in the Western world wouldn't recognize other religious symbolism for crap.

but atheism isnt against religion either. its not against anything. its just a belief there is no god.

I have atheist friends who find christianity fascinating and like to learn about it. to them, its no different than greek religion, being that its a fun myth for them.

ofcourse, I understand if you have something against religion that sign works. but its not really an atheist sign, its just an anti-sign.

Maybe. But by and large God is religion (after all, the overriding point of almost every religion, including Christianity if I'm not mistaken, is that there is a God) so it kind of follows. So I can understand how they would think that. Apparently Buddhism, I read here, has no God involved and can be "atheistic". (Oops).

There can be no doubt that Christianity is interesting, like any other religion. At least to a point.

You're probably right. I know that I wouldn't exactly take anyone seriously holding a sign like that (sorry, but the only thing that's sign is going to do is make people very mad), but I think it was meant to be a joke anyway.

You know what I think?

I think that everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion and beliefs just as the next person is. I have friend who is Atheist, and I don't push Christianity on her one bit. What she thinks doesn't matter. Just as long as I keep being friends with her.

I have gay friends, lesbian friends, friends of all races and of all religions. It angers me to no end when I see a friend of mine or someone I don't even know, for that matter, getting shunned upon just because they are different; were raised differently. I don't think my friendship with friends will ever change just because they don't believe what I do, or I don't like what they like. Just like all of you on the topic; I don't care if you don't believe in God. All I care about is if you're a nice person.

Getting a little off-topic, I think, there is the question of Creation vs. Evolution. I have friends who believe in one or the other. But my mom, dad, and I believe in another thing; God CREATED Evolution. That, in my mind, is the only way ANYTHING makes sense when it comes to that matter. There is also the matter of is there a Heaven. I believe there is, but I ALSO believe that there is no...*gulp* Hell. THERE!!! I said it!!! (I don't like that word because in my experience it has been use as a curse word.)

I've always been taught that God loves everyone, because they are all his children. If that's true, then why would he send 'bad' people...down there instead of just saying, "I forgive you of your sin. You made bad dicisions, but you didn't know what you were doing." When you really think about it, some of the most feared people of all time were just confused, or mentaly insane. But society has classified them as 'Evil' because that's the sterotypic behavior that they've become familiar with.

And another thing; I believe that EVERYONE is going to Heven, whether you think it's real or not. The God I believe in would want all people to go there to rest in peace, even if they don't believe in him, because that's what us Christians call his 'Unconventional Love' or his 'Undying Love' for us.

...And I think that's all I have to say.

That's actually where I got it, from the Bad Religion wikipedia page
A very, very small amount of their stuff is good. "Los Angeles is Burning" is a really amazing song, and a few of their others are okay, but I wouldn't pay money to see them live.

Absolutely. I was making the point that it is sad and ironic that a religion which is supposed to be based on love has been used as a tool of power and war.

I was referring to juroara's comment about christianity and politics being ideologically incompatible.

Christianity and statecraft appear to be mutually exclusive, so a politicised Christianity is bound to be a corrupted one.
