Children commonly have nightmares, even children with happy childhoods. The more one thinks of a dream, the more likely it is to reoccur. |

When I was a child (5-8 years old) I used to have a reoccurring dream. I would be lying in my bed and would look up to the entrance of my door way and a large dark shadowy figure would walk in and pick me up out of my bed. He (assuming the figure was a male, as the figure was quite large and strong) would carry me down the hallway and into the middle of our lounge room. There he would spin in circles and I would watch the room whizzing around until I became delusional, in a drunk like state. Then I would wake up scared to death and call for my mother. I can't recall how many times I had this dream but it was often. |

You may say I'm a dreamer.
But I'm not the only one - John Lennon
Sounds like a member of your family had control of a part of your life that you would liked to have had a say in. Either that or maybe an adult during your infancy would spin you round in your lounge room and you recall it as feeling a bit insecure. |

I thought of it some more: kids at least used to have very little control over their / our lives. I think this is changing in our culture. So just that lack of control, where grown ups made all the decisions for one, that could be what such a dream is about. |
