I gotta tell someone

..Ok this is my first post on this great site. I have been browsing the forums here for about two weeks. I found this site from a thread on Poker Strategy - Two Plus Two Poker & Gaming Strategy . I must first say, this is a wonderful community and would love to be apart of it.

Ok so on to the lucid. I fell asleep at about 830pm on the couch. My wife came home from work at about 1230am and cleaned up a bit, then woke me up at about 1am. I chatted with her then played on my iPad until about 230am. I go to sleep like normal and then...

Im dreaming. I'm sitting at a poker table in a card room I often frequent. I'll skip the details, and get right to the point. The card room is closing, and I am very drunk. I do not have a sober driver with me, which is very odd. I am worried about driving drunk and getting a DUI. I worry about that for a few minutes, then all of a sudden I think "I am not drunk. I do not have to drive home. I am lying in bed dreaming all of this!"

The dream immediately vanishes and my view is nothing but black. My heart is pounding, my breaths are deep! My body is tingling, I am experiencing euphoria! One of the best feelings of my life!!

After relishing in ecstasy for about a minute, I think to myself, "I'm in a lucid dream and I'm losing it because I'm so excited!" I try to "spin", but it does not work. I wake up in bed with a giant smile on my face, feeling more alive then I have felt in a long time. I am not mad that I did not have a long lucid, I am enjoying this wonderful sensation that has come over me.

AND THEN

After about 20 minutes lying in bed remembering every little detail about my lucid, I decide to try to WILD.

I lay there, counting my breaths. About three times I think I entered SP. Each time I had the images in front of me, and such a loud noise, like the noise at a movie theater. You know, the THX sound noise. It felt like I was being pulled into something.

But yet again, my excitement kept me from becoming completely lucid.

I am not upset tho, because the experience was wonderful.

Congratulations on your first lucid experience, and here's to many more.

I would definitely suggest starting up a dream journal, so you can start logging more of your experience. Good luck with learning to lengthen and control your lucids in the future! Enjoy your stay!

..Thanks Oneri, You mean a DJ on this site? I bought a composition notepad and have been recording my dreams in it. Think I should also do a DJ on this site?

Of course! It's always nice to get a little feedback on your journals, but it's going to be completely up to you. I really just advocate that you start a journal of some kind. Paper is ok. On-site is even better!

..Advertising? Is that what I did thar? I'm a fan of having links to sites your talking about instead of just text. Wasn't trying to advertise for 2+2, besides, they hardly need it from me haha.

Congrats on the first LD, too bad it didn't last longer though. Make sure when you're WILD'ing, don't get overwhelmed by the loud sounds and noises and images you experience, if you see anything frightening know that it can't really harm you, and above all, stay alert and focused, and try not to get over excited, and if you succeed, after about 45 seconds of SP, you should be entering a WILD. Welcome to DV by the way.

..Oneir, I think I will start a DJ here, as well as my note pad. When I wake up and start writing my dreams down I'm in such a rush to get it all out that my writing (style and penmanship!) is very sloppy. Putting it online should give me the chance to clean it up a bit.

Lawil, the noises were very loud and crisp, it was very awesome. I could probably just do that every night and be happy haha. Funny thing about images. Old soviet propaganda billboards and images were being flashed in front of my eyes! I couldn't remember exactly what the images were, detail for detail, but the impression was cold war propaganda. I have no idea why either, as I'm no cold war buff. Pretty neat still.

well welcome to the community! and congrats on your first lucid. mine was about 2 seconds in the office from the show "The Office", haven't had another in about..... 9 months but im getting back into it. and yes you should start a dream journal.
