I know this is a topic that has been bantered ad nauseum on this forum, but I just thought I should share my positive experience using a combination of B6 and Valerian. Here goes:

Just before I went to bed, I took a 500 milligram Valerian Root capsule, and a 50 milligram B6 tablet. After laying in bed for about 45 minutes, I started to feel calm and very sleepy. I usually have quite a bit of trouble getting to sleep whenever I'm actually thinking about sleeping, but this combo really seemed to take care of that problem. And a couple of times, I felt myself falling into a dream, although my excitement kept waking me up.

I'm planning to add Melatonin to this combination, to see if that has any effect.

One caveat, though: I've been on a vitamin supplement for a while now, and I'm thinking that might have something to do with it.

Glad to hear of you success! Post once you try melatonin with it, I would love to hear the results.

Looks like it's going to be a while before I get to add the Melatonin: I've been researching on the Internet, and it looks like people with allergies can have adverse reactions, and being an overly cautious person, it seemed prudent to wait until the pollen goes down a bit before I take the risk.

By the way, does anybody actually know about the melatonin-allergy connection? Am I being overly paranoid?

You're being overly paranoid. Melatonin is naturally produced by your body. I'd be more worried about taking B6 as it is known to cause neuropathy when taken in large doses.

I have to agree with this since melatonin is already produced in your body. I'm sure it could be harmful in large doses but I really wouldn't worry too much.

All right, in that case, I'll try the combo tonight and let you know tomorrow.
