What are some common jobs that are foreigner-friendly (other than teaching)?
How would one go about aquiring a job once a field is chosen?

Do you mean long-term sustain yourself and make a living jobs?

Or shorter term travelling a bit jobs.

A good question. My goal is to spend years at a time in each country. I really want to soak up the culture, have a part it inextricably attached to who I am.

how do you want to live. I mean, you could get away without ever getting a place of residence anywhere, if you wanted.

Ha, yes, that is very true. Well I believe my friend Tim put it rather succintly: "man, all I want is a job that pays me, my own place to live, and a bitch to fuck" So basically that. The work doesn't have to pay well. Just enough to pay for rent/utilites, food, booze, and women, which doesn't seem like it would be too much money.

Ya, same here CC. But what kind of job over there would hire someone who doesnt speak their language. Im still looking and i cant find shit. Ill google for a bit though.

EDIT: quick search gave me about 1,000,000 jobs.

Just talked to spart. He said that its fairly easy to get into korea, and a working holiday visa is easy to obtain anyway. So im guessing its no problem.

Yeah but working holiday is only for Canadians, New Zealanders, Australians, and the Japanese. Americans are left out. I don't know why :/.

I met a guy in prague, and then again purely by chance in Paris, who travelled from city to city across eurasia living in hostels and doing small jobs there.

He'd get a job somewhere, like part time bar work, or something manual, and then he would move there, find a nice hostel, and live there til he felt like moving on. He always had surplus money for food, alcohol etc. And as you may know living in a good hostel is probably one of the most social environments you can have to be in.

When he wanted to leave or go somewhere else, he would look into where he was headed, find a job there, and then move there and continue.

This way he'd been going for years, all over the place. The last time I met him he was about to go to Iceland.

Anyway, obviously this was easy for him, as an EU citizen he could move freely from country to country for ages.

I don't know how it works for americans, but he was really just considered as being on long holidays everywhere.

Again I don't know how much this can relate to your situation, but it's more ideas, and that's what counts I guess.

Yeah, I've thought about this, but it's definitely harder being an American. I honestly wouldn't mind doing that. And in a sense, it's definitely really seductive. The only problem I have with it is the amount of time spent in each place, thought the awesomeness of essentially living anywhere and everywhere makes up for the lack of strong bonds you built over time.

I suppose if I had some skills, I would do this. Unfortunately, I have jack shit. I think I might try TEFL first.

Also, Carou, good to have you back.

Nice. I hope to just vacation at each country. I'm hoping to work at an interantional computer or game company, So there'd be a chance for buisness trips.
      I'm back!
