Hi guys,
I'm pretty new to LDing and I was wondering if it is possible to enter someone elses dream. It would be really cool if you could do that. Has anyone done it? Can it be done?

There are some people that believe that, but I am not completely sure whether you can.

No, and no.

Though some people *believe* otherwise, I'm afraid I don't. Dreaming occurs within your mind, and short of some form of telepathy, dream sharing is impossible.

I'd have to agree with the Blue Meanie

My own personal opinion is no, since if any sort of communication (with electromagnetic waves, for example) could take place between two minds, it might be half-frequent to exchange emotions or small quantities of information with someone else "telepathically". Also, this would not work over long distances.

On the other hand, seeing as dreaming is governed by a lower level of the mind, and during lucid dreaming you basically have a kind of "conscious" control in that state, I don't know whether anyone can say for certain. Some aspects of the human brain still remain to be explored.

Hi peppy, and welcome to DV!

The subject of shared dreaming is highly controversial here (or at least it was about a week ago...). I happen to fall on the side which believes it may be possible. Myself and a friend are currently learning the art of Lucid Dreaming in hopes of having a shared dream ourselves. If we fail at that, at least we've learned how to LD!
I think it could be done; either with telepathy (yeah, I believe in that too [to a certain degree]), or with some kind of collective psychic consciousness. Yep, I'm a radical. But so were Voltaire, Washington, and everyone else that shaped society.

Some people believe in that mystical stuff but, in my opinion: No, one cannot actually enter another's dream. Now, it is completely possible for two people to have similar dreams involving each other or simply have incubated - or otherwise - dreams involving one another but that's the extent of it. I'd have to say that dreaming is confined to the mind of the dreamer. It's a vast world in there, yes, but it's still "in there" and, as such, is bounded by the dreamers mind.

There is no answer, I doubt if it can be prooved. Dream sharing depends on your belief. I've had times where I think I've shared dreams but then it could just be coincidental.

I try to keep my mind open to all possiblities;however, I don't think it can be done. You and another person would have to be telepathic, and dreaming the exact same thing at the exact same time.

I agree. I'd say that most cases of "shared dreaming" actually happen at different times, rather than simultaneously.

There have been stories of Twins who have almost telepathic links to each other...they can *feel* when each other is in pain or in distress. So I am assuming that it is possible for twins to have something like a shared dream, but for your average person, I say no.

Who's to say its impossible? Just because we can't do it yet doesn't mean its impossible, it just means we haven't found a way. 500 years ago it was 'impossible' to get to the moon. You can't say something is impossible because we don't understand how to do it yet. In fact, my own dad and sister have had a shared dream. They both had a dream one night, and in the morning one over heard the other talking about their dream, and came in and started saying how the dream happened, and took turns telling certain parts of the dream. How would you explain that? Coincidence that they happened to have IDENTICAL dreams? Considering the Age gap, the difference in intrests, and their overall personalities, having identical dreams would be astronomical in terms of odds.

So again, don't discount the possibility of something because you haven't personally experienced it, or because our current understanding of things don't explain it.
