This is our galaxy and those glittering points of light are STARS. Our sun, our star, is very tiny. Which is why it doesn't have it's own glowing point on this picture. Instead the arrow just points to a smudge. And you would have to zoom in on that smudge for some time before you find our star - our sun.
The brilliant points of light on this picture are NOT stars. They're not even galaxies. They are CLUSTERS of galaxies. You have to zoom in on this picture a bit more to see the individual galaxies. But this picture does not represent the Universe. Because this picture is a tiny snippet of the entirety of the Universe. And in the entirety of the Universe, this picture is a smudge.
Even if we only imagine that each galaxy only has one earth like planet, with intelligent life, that is still over 100 billion intelligent planets. But the REALITY is, there is a much greater chance of each galaxy containing more than one planet that harbors life. Nature is fractal.
Fractal means that nature has patterns that repeat themselves throughout. Life on a planet revolving around a sun-star is one of those patterns that is destined to repeat itself. The organic material that composes our body was created IN A STAR. The Universe is abundant with stars.........
