This has been annoying me for a while now...

I havent actually achieved a lucid dream yet, but my parents are wondering about it.

Like, how do you wake up when you know you are conciously dreaming??

Please help me answer these questions.

      Thanks,

Why would you want to wake up? If you become conscious (lucid) in your dream, it's time to explore and have some fun. At first, even just looking around at things is exciting (more like mind blowing). When you are lucid, you know that even scary things can't hurt you, so there is really no need to wake up on purpose.

If you are worried about getting stuck in the dream, that is not a problem. After a while, usually after a few minutes, but sometimes much longer, the dream will fade and you will either wake up or drift into dreamless sleep for a while. No worries.

      Did that answer your question?

They gave to drag me kicking and screaming from my lucid dreams. I fight it every inch of the way with all the techniques I can to keep from waking up.

If you meen how do you wake up as in why do you wake up when your lucid dreaming then
its prob because your to excited or something

if its how do you wake up then commit suicide or make yourself really excited.

But theres no reason to wanna wake yourself up lol

Yes, this did answer my question

I was worried about getting stuck...

How does that work? if you are conscious in a dream how do you regain consciousness in reality?

      Hmm... tricky...

If you are conscious in a dream and then wake up, you don't loose consciousness - its more like walking out of a cinema.

BTW to wake up from a lucid dream (I did it the other day for the lucid task because I wanted to make sure I remembered it) simply open your eyes!

Don't worry about it - I've been LDing on and off for nearly 35+ years and I'm 99.999% sure its safe!!!

I'm a natural LDer so don't how long it takes for the first one to come - depends on who you are and which method(s) you are using.

It takes me between 30seconds & 50 minutes to do a WILD - depends on where in the night (sleep cycle) I am etc.

And to open your eyes - really, you just open them - sounds weird perhaps, but its easy when you are there i.e. when you are lucid you know you are dreaming so you can easily wake - in fact its tooooo easy and LDing is only juuuuuuust asleep, right on the edge of waking I'd say, so as Seeker metioned, the challenge is how to NOT wake up.

      Yeah - sorry - I feel guilty...

30 seconds would be at 6am after waking from a particularly vivid dream where I've just got the girl...

There are many ways to purposely wake yourself up from a LD. I guess each person has their own way...
personally, this has always worked for me: simply close your eyes really tight, and then sloooowly open them up. When they are fully open, you should be looking at your bedroom, at the real world (i.e you should be awake&#33 It's never failed me yet, give it a shot.
      Hope this helps some.

      Roryflyguy,

While you are dreaming, it starts to fade, get less clear and go black. You don't have to do anything, its as if someone is turning down a dimmer switch. You just kind of realize that you aren't standing up, but in bed. Your hands are usually the last things to leave the dream, so you can sometimes feel like you are still holding onto something. Try holding onto someones hands while you wake up--very weird because you can still feel their hands in yours for a while even though you are in your bed waking up. I don't mean to creep you out, it's actually very cool.

Anyway, don't worry about anything, nothing bad can happen. Just obsess on doing as many vivid reality checks throughout the day where you SERIOUSLY question whether it is a dream or not and follow through with testing it. You'll probably become lucid in a few days if you do this and MILD.

You've never been in another world before--it will blow your mind and it is worth the effort.
