The first being those whose primary effect on lucid dreaming was the result of the rebound effect where if you depress REM sleep during the first few hours of sleep the brain will compensate later in ones sleep session, this is where melatonin falls in. This will cause a increase in dream length and frequency towards the morning hours. And this is all true from my experiences with that particular chemical.
The second class are those including and similar to the well known chemical galantamine, whose purpose is to increase the likelihood of REM sleep, heighten awareness, increase working memory, and dream duration immediately. This class is most often associated with WILDS and the WBTB method since they are taken right before the Lucid dream attempt. On a side note these molecules safe and well tolerated as they may be in the short term should not be taken over a long period of time.
