Absolutely this is correct! Lucid dreaming is much more a journey of self-discovery relating to sleep, dreaming, and consciousness in general. It does not lend itself to instant gratification or the impatient. It is indeed a life-long discipline. However, you can begin observing results (dream recall and experiencing lucidity) in the short-term, but results build slowly over time with dedicated, continual practice and experimentation.
