      Stablizing a dream?

      Hi guys.
I'm a newbie to DILDing... and I have a problem.
So far I have realized that I am dreaming in a dream about 10 times, but I did not have a real lucid dream yet.
Every time I RC everything blacks out.
Like yesterday. I realized that I was dreaming and spun around to stabilize the dream, but I blacked out again.
So is there any way to not black out after becoming lucid?
      Thx.

This happens with people a lot. Also, if you realized you were dreaming, then it's a lucid dream. No doubt about it.
I know what you mean, though. Usually, you get so excited or overwhelmed when you start out, that you just wake up.
Just try to remain calm when you figure it out. I know I had experiences like this when I started out.
I find, personally, that spinning always makes me black out. Try rubbing your hands together or trying to just touch everything you see. This is a different way to stabilize a dream, and it usually works better.

Completley agree wih SinisterDezz, ditch the spinning for now because that can have all sorts of effects which are difficult to control. Just stand still and run your hands along the wall or even down your trouser leg, feel every bump or crease. Also use your voice, talk to your self in a firm voice about whats happening. "I am dreaming!" "I am in control of this dream!" For me these are the two most useful techniques, i still use them now as they are so simple, and will improve the quality of all your senses and stabalize the dream. Good luck!

Does it get easier then, guys? I become lucid maybe once a week, which isn't a bad stat, but I very often lose lucidity after a minute or so. Often (like this morning) I have a few lucid 'episodes' one after the other, each lasting a minute. But I can't really 'do' anything substantial because it's over so quickly. I've only had one 'decent' LD that lasted I reckon about 10 minutes.

      Hi,

I'd suggest reading up this tutorial
Dream Stabilization and Clarity Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views
So far my favorite stabilization guide

Here's my plan of stabilizing ld that i wrote some time ago...
To be honest i don't follow it much though it might come in handy for some people.
      1. Tell myself that i'm dreaming midnfully
      2. Find nearest material like wall or table and touch n' move on it with right hand to stimulate sensations.
2.33 While still doing previous step look with your eyes at left hand and try to see it in most detailed manner.
2.66 During still doing 2 and 2.33 steps from time to time tell myself that i'm dreaming or that i have absolute control or that i'm able to stay in this dream for two hours (Have confidence in those words said)
      2.99 Repeat steps for 15 - 45 sec
      3. When finished tell myself mindfully that i'm dreaming mindfully and be done with stabilization
      4. Remind myself dream task that i planned before and do it
