      When do you RC?

      Hello all.

I started my lucid dreaming journey back in 2004 and my interest/motivation has come and gone over the years (as you can tell by my signature). The one thing that has remained for the last 9+ years is the habit of doing reality checks. But, during the times when I wasn’t actively pursuing LDs I only did RCs when my current situation felt “weird” or “dreamlike”. I discovered that this doesn’t work very well because when I’m dreaming even the most F’ed up things seem perfectly normal.

Now I am back to actively pursuing LDs I am wondering when other people do there RCs

      Personally I do RCs:
      • I feel “weird” (If I feel that I may be dreaming)
      • Anytime the situation seems strange (Things are happening that don’t typically happen – Example: I get pulled over for speeding)
      • Anytime I have strong negative emotions (Anger, sadness, etc.)
      • When I wake up in the morning (Always have to check for false awakenings)
      • Whenever I change environments. (Example: When I go from inside my house to outside. – Still working on making this a habit)
      • Whenever I see a mirror (Still working on making this a habit)

      So, when do you RC?

I have a lots of work related dreams. So I started RCing at work. Working during day, and then even in your dreams sucks.

      1. at work
      2. when I get a feeling "what if this is a dream"
      3. whenever I remember
      4. when getting lucid would make for some funny situation

Every time I RC I strongly believe, that indeed, I'm dreaming. I never ever acknowledge, that I'm not.

I tend to RC at odd intervals - just suddenly stopping and asking myself if the world is a dream. It could be hours before I do one.

I've built the habit of doing one just before bed - this has helped me out a lot in becoming lucid.

Also, whenever I 'wake up' - gotta catch them false awakenings.
