It is dream incubating. You can do it without being lucid. Or you can do a persistent realm Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views - Hyu's Adventures - Dream Journals while lucid. |
My non lucid dreams usually have some theme that reflects on what has been on my mind during the day. I imagine that you could set your mind on something during the day and try to go to sleep with that on your mind, but I've never really messed with it. |
It normally goes with a movie or video game or book for me unless I incubate. |

Complete dream control is not impossible. Granted it takes training and time. I support the idea of dream incubation, but the possiblity is very real for when you reach a high level of skill and control. Even a truely advanced dreamer will have varying levels of control, depending on factors, like sleep stages, and if they bother to fully stabilize. |
I use passive control a lot and try bigger control in steps. I am going to continue this for a long time, so I like how I can look forward to things like that. |

If I am lucid and if I want to change the scene into a whole new dreamscape I will fly above the clouds and imagine the new scene, as in your case a floating island, then I'll fly back down and it will be there! |

Don't know what you wanna dream about, but let's say it's swimming in tropical sea. Just before going to bed, watch some videos on youtube about tropical seas. Pick videos, that will really impress you. That's an important part - have your mind blown by the images. We are most likely dream about things, that left impression on us. |
