I would say go for it, that's a good length of time to test out a technique. Stick with it and you'll really start to see some progress. A week isn't really long enough to get into a good rhythm and let your body know what you want (I think I remember reading somewhere that it takes 3 weeks to make/break a habit, which this shouldn't just be habit but it is probably about the same for adjusting your body to a new system).
You could even test out a couple techniques during this time to see which really fits you. Example: do MILDs before you go to bed to tell your mind to remember dreaming, try WILD/WBTB/DEILD after a few hours of sleep to put yourself into the dream, and do reality checking/awareness during the day to better understand the difference between waking and dreaming. You don't have to try them all at once but at least try each one a couple times and see if it's something you think you could get into and really stick with for long enough to see progress. And you may even find a good system by combining a couple of them together.
Personally I try to do a a few of them together (MILD/WILD/Awareness) to get the most benefit from it and keep my mind constantly focused on dreaming.
Hope you find something that works for you, and good luck!
