      In need of encouragement!

I recently took up lucid dreaming again after a period of about half a year. I had started about 2 years ago, quit, started again, quit again and have now started again. The few lucid experiences I have had had been astonishing. I don't know why I loose interest or quit because I am fascinated with it and would love to become a master of LD.

I came here for some words of encouragement to help me from stopping again. Anything that would force me to keep going would be great, experiences etc.
      Much appreciated.

      DB

you could read a book about lucid dreaming ... that way you would keep thinking about it and not lose interest

I'm the same with other things, like making music - I'll get really into it for a while, then stop for months. I'm determined not to let it happen to my dream journal and lucid attempts.

All I can think to suggest is when you feel like you're losing interest, try and remember what it was that grabbed your attention to begin with. Going back to my music example, I find I lose interest when I haven't been inspired in a while, or can't think of anything good to write. Once I think of a good tune, though, I get really excited again and I'm back in the game!

Keep challenging yourself - there's a lot on this site in terms of challenges and goals to keep it interesting!

There isn't a single thing I can say or do to encourage you. Dedication is something you alone can only aquire. Make a choice

I'm not so sure that's true - if it was, how would sports coaches, for example, earn their living?

Good point but a sportsman has to make a choice to be motivated in the first palce to hire a coach and then go as far as parting with money for the expertise.

I agree you can only truly achieve dedication through your own force of will, but that doesn't mean you can't have help from others - such as tips to keep dreaming interesting. Besides, you can be encouraged to do something initially that you may not have originally wanted to do, in the way a parent might encourage.

Don't know if mcwillis meant something like this, but you should find before anything inspiration. Find it reading other's people dream journals, by hearing music and above everything, by imagining yourself having the most exciting lucid you could ever have.

Lucid dreaming may be the path to your most ambitious fantasies, so it's not hard to find something that keeps you on to it. When you have the inspiration, all you have to do is use it as an excuse to fight your body (and mind) whenever they make you want to quit. You're striking for something as real as it can get.

Exercise: Listen to this music (as loud as possible) and imagine yourself in a lucid.

Hans Zimmer is the man for dreaming music. Inception has a great soundtrack too, as does Modern Warfare 2 (not that I'm massively into the game itself).

I'm an action junkie so my suggestion would be to daydream. If I'm losing motivation to LD, I start daydreaming if I have the time and I may end up creating a certain scenario that I want to act out in my dreams. I listen to climactic music that evolves over the course of it playing, so I get some slower daydreams and then a more action-packed one.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

The easiest way to get motivated is to reach down into your soul and grabbing your very fiber of your being. Grip it tight and pull yourself along. It's the only way you'll stick with it.
Pls be patient and stop losing your mind!
