Thread: Blowing up peoples' heads to wake them up.

Just a short non-lucid I had last night that I thought I'd share with you. Last night, I was apparently hired by some dream council to wake up other dreamers. To do this, I was given a detonator specific to each one of them. When I pressed the button, their dream head would explode, and they would wake up.

So, I'm working my way through this pile of detonators. I look down and realize there's one left. I press it, and instantly wake up myself. Thought that was pretty funny.

Death seems to let me escape from my dreams (if I want it to). I'll have to try this sometime.

So, by that logic, that dream really happened. What would have happened if you'd decided not to use the detonator? Would you have ever woken up?

I love it when dreams come around full-circle, and actually end. I wake up feeling like I've read a good book in my sleep.

Knowing me, I'd have ended up across the street looking at my headless corpse, having body-jumped into some hapless DC. Hopefully he wouldn't be a janitor.

Yeah, I used to kill myself in dreams all the time if I was having a nightmare. Jumping off a really tall building or something works really well.

Exactly what I would do :O

I've gotten to the point that I literally just bounce off the ground. The last time something managed to kill me / knock me out, I ended up in my Grandma's kitchen going, "My, what big teeth you have. I'm still dreaming, aren't I?"

It's like I can't wake up until I calm the fuck down.

Back on topic anyway. I wonder how the explosion will feel. Will it just go black, or will it jump to 3rd person? I really wanna do this now.

It would have to depend on the dream, wouldn't it? If you expect to wake up, you'll probably black out and go through either a false awakening (I HATE those things) or a real one. If you're resigned to body-snatching, or your character considers himself immortal, you'll probably do that. Hell, you might even switch to 3rd person, and slooowwwly circle around your headless corpse while text messages mock you at the bottom of the screen.

Alternatively, the detonator might not go off. That would just be embarrassing.
