I went to sleep last night after having gotten something like four or five hours of sleep (my norm is at least eight hours), and I noticed that my dreams seemed more nonsensical, emotional, and fragmented than usual. It jumped from scene to scene, and when I went to write it down, the chronological order was hard to place. The entire dream seemed to be made up of components from TV shows and movies as well.
My question is this: has anybody ever had this happen? Does anybody know of any actual research done on the effect of sleep deprivation on dreams?
