Can you form relationships with dream characters by making them reappear in all of your lucid dreams

So bassicly, if a lucid dreamer Desired, could they continually make the same dream character appear in all of there lucid dreams and form a sort of relationship with them? Second a physiological question, who is to say that dream charecters don't think on their own? Multiple personality disorders do exist so how do we know that these characters aren't just different personalities of your subconscious. For example: there is a word that is on the tip of our tongue but we just can't remember it. Hours later the word comes to you. This is because the brain continuinly worked on figuring out what the word was

Yes, in my opinion it is possible to atleast summon a DC nearly every lucid dream you have. and i think when you make it second nature that first thing you get lucid you summon your mate this might get a habit and the mate will start show in nld too. but this would be the active approach that should be the easiest one.
--> but atleast for me it is easy to summon a dc i know but i couldnt manage (but tried a handfull of times) to summon a dc i dont "know" but saw in a previous NLD. This didnt work for me but i think this is a mental thing because i couldnt imagine how to summon someone you dont know the name or have any relationship so far...
other people draw and think about a character they want to have in dreams all day long so they "incubate" it so it is more likely to dream about it.
some people have persistent DC´s just like that.

I find playing around/questioning taking seriously and giving attention to Dream Characters very interesting and often good fun. As you say we don't really understand who...what exactly they are but of course the obviouse answere is they are part of ourselves...but we can't always know for sure as interaction can be quite surprising and unexpected at times. I haven't been summoning actively as RelaxAndDream does but I often find myself getting lucid in amougst a crowd of DC''s or when speaking to one and so I go from there with my lucid dream often involving them. I recommend it
