Question Hey, I had this weird hallucination but it wasn't after an episode of sleep paralysis, it was...

After a dream, I had a dream, woke up. I am lazy so I stayed in bed. I close my eyes, the most vivid picture i've ever seen in my life. It was a wall, with a DSI charger plugged into the outlet. What is this happening called? It's freakishly epic.

Sometimes when I wake up at night and even sometimes when I stay up way to late I can visualize things very vividly as if I was seeing it with my eyes. It doesn't happen all the time, I usually have to be extra tired. It makes DEILDing much easier.

I woke up from a dream last night and I had a question in my mind. I believe it was long the lines of "What do women think about?", a strange question I know, however it persisted in my mind. I just lay awake at about 9:40am thinking about this question and then I closed my eyes. To my amazement I saw a room, not too dissimilar to my own only this time the window wasn't at the end of my bed, it was on the wall beside me, to my right. The really strange part was that there was a girl sitting on the bed looking at me and she started talking to me, answering the question. Needless to say she was beautiful but what intrigued me the most was that she looked unlike any person I've ever seen, totally new to me yet I felt like we had known each other for a long time.

Anyway, I opened my eyes like "What the...." So yeah, there is a place in between dreaming and wakefulness. It's very real.

Also, we find ourselves in this state when we're sleep deprived. Sometimes late at night/early morning I'll begin to drift a bit like that then wham I'm back to looking at the computer screen.

I think that is HH. The first time it happened to me, when I was trying to have an Obe. I could see my room with my eyes closed and heard strange voices (HA).

      I was in halfway heaven.
But yeah, seriously I think it's a point where you haven't established a dream body. Like I wasn't able to move or even feel myself but I just saw her and the room. I'm skeptical about the use of the word hallucination though. Aren't dreams by definition hallucinations?

To me, dreaming awake is something I would call a hallucination. I've had it before where I woke up and I saw a spider made of static at the end of my bed, big guy and yes static. It was like fuzz on a T.V
Happened in the morning when I woke up and it made me jump out of bed like lightning but when I came to I looked back and it was gone and I realized I must have been hallucinating.

That's more what I'd call hallucinating. This was more of a place confined within my mind.

Hypnagogic imagery is a feature of stage 1 of NREM sleep, not REM sleep and REM atonia.

      An example of my hypnagogia:

I feel I am still lying in bed awake. Suddenly I see myself walking down a street. I fall over, slipping up like in a cartoon, as if on a banana peel. I experience a hypnic jerk and seem to throw myself in the air.

All that was stage 1 NREM and far before REM atonia.

Most people don't experience these hypnagogic dreamlets as they simply aren't aware enough. They always happen, only us oneironauts witness them as we become intimately involved in the process of falling asleep.

Yeah I'd imagine that's what happening. Good way of putting it. I've actually been trying to stay more and more aware when I'm falling asleep because it really is a whole nother ball game in that stage.

I have had a similar experience.
I woke up in bed, grabbed my Ipod and began to use it. I rolled over to get more comfortable, losing sight of it for just a second as it went behind my pillow, when I looked back, the Ipod was gone and I realized i was hallucinating the entire time.

Haha, yeah. I've done very similar things. Often in a dream I'll be holding onto something like a remote or a mobile and I'll start waking up. The funny thing is that I can feel the bed and I'm aware I'm awake but I'm still holding onto the object. Sometimes I drop it and try to find it in my bed and then I realize it was never there to begin with.

One time after waking from a dream I reached for my phone in the dark. when I was thinking about where it might be, the whole phone flashed bright red and lit up only the phone, making a chiming noise in my head. I have never been able to make it make that sound. I'm still not sure if I was asleep or awake, but when I got up to get my phone it was where it was when I saw the red flashing. Needless to say it freaked me out a bit.
