why is it i come into ED and every day there are threads about the atrocities of the government and how you're going to change things to make it better and how social mores are all wrong and the environment is going to hell and the politicians are all corrupt and all this I feel like some positivity for once. The world is a pretty cool place. It's got stars and trees and those lizards that shoot blood from their eyes. I know you're going to say you just want to protect this but really even if there's horrible nuclear war some life will survive and it will come back and all the beauty will still go on. I fully expect this to be moved into SB but I wanted to change this forum even though I know extended discussions are usually about things that people will get angry about because that's what people talk about, arguments. You can't say anything if you all agree.

The power structures in society cause a lot of problems, but even with that you can still enjoy life, look on the bright side as they say.

I agree that there is room for positivity, even in a world full of negative things. That said, a post about positivity should be less generalizing and accusatory. Secondly, I think it is appropriate to talk about the things going on in the world, because although much of it is negative, and yes, that can have a bad impact, it also wakes people up to the shit they're living in, and gives them the info and tools to perhaps make a difference. With all of this corruption, our best defense is awareness of it. Depending on the intent and mentality with which these posts are made, I see no harmful effects of posting about corruption and fucked up politics. It raises awareness. Keep in mind, I do believe in the power of positivity. But even negative things can be discussed positively. And as you have successfully demonstrated with your post, positive ideas can be discussed negatively. I do take minor offense to being thrown into a category that for all you, or anyone else knows, is extremely inaccurate. Unless of course you personally know every x thousand members that have posted here, and know for a fact that they're all "so negative." </irony> One word says it all.
