Even though I missed it, I know those girls will do great things for South Africa, and maybe even the world. They probably don't even consider using money as greedily as Americans do. They have more moral than that. |

This guy,, and this guy,
, are mine. BACK OFF!
oh no, definately africa deserves it. we have enough american dollars to fix our schools, just a matter of balancing the governments budget. |

“What a peculiar privilege has this little agitation of the brain which we call 'thought'” -Hume
I know that it may seem a little selfish to hold our money here in the America's, but seriously, until we can feed ourselves, lets not throw THAT much money to help 500 people. There are more people than that dying here. |

I think that particularly the entertainment industry (movies, music, and sports) should have caps on their salaries and all the other money they get from peddling their talents, goes to help out the less fortunate, but that's just me. |

"These paradoxical perceptions of our holonic higher mind are but finite fleeting constructs of the infinite ties that bind." -ME
My thoughts, exactly. It's absolutely ricockulous how much these people make. For them to live that phat off of, basically, "keeping us entertained" (and don't get me wrong, I love my entertainment) while so much of our country obviously needs so much more care....there's no excuse for it. (besides the fact that they help run this country, but that's another subject, all together) |

I think Oprah likes to be seen to be giving away money, hence the low ratio of childeren to funding. Yeah, ok, it might do some good, but it's almost as if she's delusional - "I had a hard childhood, so I'm going to overtly shower a few young girls with money." |

Let's say someone has a gameboy, someone else asks to play the gameboy and that person says no, the person that was refused the gameboy says that person is mean or selfish, but would that mean the person with the gameboy would have been more rightjust without the gameboy in the first place? Or the person with the gameboy lets one kid play with it but not another, would the person with the gameboy have been nicer if the person never gave the gameboy out at all? Anyway Oprah is like the person who shares their gameboy with one person, it wouldn't have made her more morally superior if she didn't share the gameboy with anyone or didn't have the gameboy at all. It might not be fair that one person gets to play with the gameboy but the other one doesn't but why deny everyone a gameboy just because one person can't have one? I think it was nice for Oprah to spend money on kids with fewer opportunities. |

"There are two types of people in this world, people who think there are two types of people, and people who don't."
I like that she is actually taking a stand about something that she believes in. I think it is wonderful to give to people who need it, no matter who that might be. I have to admit that Africa needs the money much much more than america does. Our gov. would piss it away anyway! So, who cares who she gave it to? The point is that she was generous enough to give away her money, which is more than we can say for a lot of people. |
