LOL... You just threw more logs into the fire. Actually, more like a plastic container of gasoline.

I'm not so sure about the cat enjoying the acid. However, I do agree with your sentiment. Cats really aren't sentient beings in the same sense of the word used for humans so why should we give a rat's ass about them, in all honesty? And so-f*ing-what if an animal experiences pain. All life is about experiencing pain. Without pain you can't have happiness. Without death, no life. Without the f*ed up things in life we wouldn't be able to perceive the good, and vice versa. It's the balance of all things. The ying and the yang.

It's pointless to sit there with a bleeding heart over something that is simply a part of life. That bleeding heart stance on life is actually quite hypocritical in it's foundation, considering you are actually showing favoritism towards certain living beings. You may even say you care for all life but that is utter BS because eventually you have to turn a blind eye to reality, and eat something, which means you have to directly or inadvertently kill something with every meal you have. You can obviously choose to not be aware of that fact, but to me, that's like taking a mental quelude in order to give meaning where there is none. To live is to take life, it's that simple. Besides, a bigger feline under different circumstances, such as, a lion in the wild wouldn't think twice about making you his meal. Why should we? It is afterall, homo-sapien's 'Manifest Destiny' to control everything on earth as we see fit. In the end, you can focus on only the ying in life, or only the yang, but doing that simply sugarcoats existence. Hypocrisy is kind of funny, in that sense.

I find it more satisfying to live life beyond such trivial things as, empathizing with an animal's pain and plight, in order to give life meaning.

If you ask me, a cat is the perfect test subject. I mean, afterall it has 9 lives, right?...

What about a human who is severely retarded, and whose intelligence is the same as a cat. will you endorse torturing him or her to death for the advance of science?

Thats sounds exactly like a super-villain futile convert-the-hero speech, right before he says something like "You and I, we are the same!"

I am a vegan, I influenced others to be vegan, or vegetarian or at least eat less meat, or at least avoid using cosmetic products that were tested on animals. With my actions, and my influence, I have saved and will continue to save hundreds of animals. Check your facts, there is nothing hypocritical about it: vegetarians and especially vegans have a significant beneficial effect on the life animals, on the environment, and on their own health.

Please think: If there are highly advanced aliens out there who think that way towards humans (the same way you do towards cats), wouldn't it be very unfortunate for humankind?

All morality aside, I would be equally apathetic if it were a 'retard' on acid in the video. Who cares? There are countless numbers of lifeforms of all walks suffering, at every moment, of every day. THATS LIFE. However, obviously since you went and used the 'retard' example, it shows you consciously view them as lower lifeforms enough to be used in a seemingly troublesome hypothetical situation. LOL, I thought all us living beings are the same? Where was your compassionate, bleeding heart when you came up with that pretty arrogant example?

dodobird, here's a few places you went wrong in your argument- Critiquing my wording because you fail to see the innate value there, is pretty imbecilic. That is actually one of the clear signs you failed to understand a valid point, let alone start to attempt to refute one. Another thing, was that you have to respond to sections of my post as opposed to gathering your thoughts into one coherent idea, and delving a bit deeper. And strike three, was attempting to refute a point with a hypothetical situation. No one respects hypotheticals. They are easy and pointless attempts to ensnare someone. Since you like them so much here's one for you: What would you do if you had to argue your views, knowing full and well the other person's arguments were solid?

Anyway, your point about being vegan is as equally inane as the hypothetical situation by assuming plants aren't living, consuming, breathing, reproducing, beings. What makes them any less living than a cat, human, or 'retard' for that matter? If you think there is a difference then, again, you are a hypocrite because you are unable to differentiate between certain species, then conveniently are able to do so, when it serves your ego and/or appetite. At least I'm being realistic. I see no difference in living things. They are all equally meaningless and have an equal value of, zero.

Compassion, is simply Selfishness dressed up in a frilly bow-tie. Compassion serves you only when your ego demands it, and that my friend, is self-serving. Or, in other words, selfish. You can continue to choose to focus on the seemingly finer things in life, and pull the venetian blinds over your eyes. That's fine. Continue to take your mental quelude, even find salvation in Jesus while you're at it. And while you do that, I'll continue to see things how they really are.

Interesting.

That is a form of meditation that can also be used for astral projection I guess.

I don't know if it works for astral projection, but it does make some people trip. I came upon it unintentionally when I was in the third grade. I had panty hose on my head, and I stared at my reflection for a while without moving anything. I started turning into all kinds of bizarre, alien like beings.

For real dude. That's a pretty fucked up thing to say right there.
i think they must have given the cat way too much acid. You know he wasn't doing that because of any small amount.

Still. i'm sure it didn't didn't die or anything.

there is a huge difference between what you eat and what you torment. if someone wants to eat a cat, by all means! tell me how it tastes, but I dont think thats an excuse to torment the cat while it was alive.

the vegetarian might be the hypocritical one in this argument if they feel its wrong to eat an animal becuase its living, so are plants! however the vegan has choosen their path for a different reason, its not becuase you killed a living thing, but what you did to it before you killed it.

all living things have a right to live, and I think we should recognize its not our right to torture something for mere amusement

While that video is clipped and music added to seemingly show it for amusement. I'm sure those animal tests weren't in vain and they learned certain effects of the drug from them. It's not like someone put a cat in a microwave. Animal testing is a part of scientific progress, if you can't deal with it next time you are deathly ill don't go to the doctor and get antibiotics or any kind of medicines because more likely that not they were somehow obtained through some kind of animal testing before it got to you. Just because you don't see something directly happen doesn't mean it doesn't go on. As I said before, to live is to take life. It's only natural to test things occasionally on animals for the progress of humanity, that is, if we wish humanity to go forward at the pace it has been.

Even though I HATE the idea, I have to admit that it's true. I love animals more than most, but some experimentation is necessary. I think there is a limit, however.. You have to put a boundry on how much is too much.

The same goes with eating meat. Except for the fact that I don't feel guilty eating meat at all.

I say: As long as animals eat animals, I will eat animals.
