I don't think you should give up on gaming simply because you're not particularly good. Most games out there allow you to have fun, without being the best player ever. From what you're saying, it sounds like you perhaps should cut back a little. As Saturos said, if you're not actually having fun doing what you're doing, then stop doing it. That doesn't mean you need to stop entirely, just take a break. Go do something else for some hours.
Personally, my life is centered around computers, and in particular games. This certainly gets boring after a while, so picking up other interests is a good idea. Like photography. Music. Or perhaps excercising. Personally I found that having other things you can just go do, when you're bored with what you usually do, helps a lot.
On the subject of video games, did you ever try out DotA inspired games? Like League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth, or DotA it self. DotA 2 is on the way too. These games are interesting, because they sort of mix RTS (control system), FPS (teamwork) and RPG (leveling, items) in a very refreshing way. They do have a sort of steep learning curve, especially if you start with DotA, but League of Legends is definitely something you can pick up and learn fairly quickly. Also it's free (so is Heroes of Newerth, although much steeper learning curve). It might just be the kind of game for you, and there are also a lot of tournaments out there for you to play in, if that's what you want to do. Give it a shot if you haven't already
