I did around 12 years ago. I'm always amazed that it is still around.

I play and I'd love to play against anyone on DV Using IRC, we just play it out. Keep track of life and link to the cards we play. Anyone up for a match? I'll be on for 3 more hours or so.

No mana burn now... and yeah, Planeswalkers changed the game a lot when they came out as well as cards like "Stoneforge Mystic" and "Jace, the Mind Sculptor" (now both are banned from standard play)

And yeah, matte; we should play sometime. idk about over irc lol. that'd be a lot of work. skype is a lot easier imo

I play. I have like 5 decks.
I'm not super great.

I love to play. I don't own a deck but my friend and his older brother own 2000+ cards and I use a level 5 Eldrazi deck when I'm over there. Like a boss.

I had a pack of cards when I was younger, but I had no interest in it.

I don't play though.

Anyone who wants to play, send me a PM and we'll set up a date and time. It's not hard to play through IRC. It's all based on trust, and anyone cheating (or I suspect of cheating) will be on my blacklist. I only have 1 person on that list so far on DV, so you'd better not want to be on there

Example of how to play through IRC:

That's the first turn. I play a plains, tap it for Elite Vanguard which you will then look up here: Elite Vanguard (Magic 2012) - Gatherer - Magic: The Gathering

Keep a few tabs open for what creatures the opponent has, and it won't take too much time.

Example of an attack

Matte87: I attack with my two creatures, 2/2 and 1/3 first strike

The first one is just a regular 2/2, the second one a 1/3 first strike.

dakotahnok: I block your 2/2 with my 1/1, let your 1/3 through and take 1 dmg.
dokatahnok: I have 19.

I don't play by any card restriction rules, legacy etc. I just use whatever I feel like, so if anyone dares to challenge me, bring it on!

I'd rather play with Skype, personally.
I don't even have IRC installed and I'm lazy.

But I probably am going to be occupied until at least late August, so don't expect much from me.

Downloaded it, didn't get any help from the chat I was on, and I gave it the finger. Got cards in real life, and can't be bothered to set it up online.

Does anyone know if the Core Set event decks are going to go on sale at retail stores like wal-mart or target? I REALLY want the vampire onslaught one. It said they went on sale August 12th, but I'm not sure whether it's only going to be on starcitygames.com and in card shops. it'd be much easier for me to pick one up at wal-mart.

Sry celestial, no idea. We should set up a date on which we get on IRC and play it out! Any suggestions when we can do it?

My friend got me into it recently and I've become a little obsessed. I'm currently building my first deck, it's a green deck focusing on rushing mana out, throwing down a combination between defenders, tramplers, tokens and juggernauts, accelerating my draw and augmenting creatures. The focus of the deck is the Wild Beastmaster. If I can get that one out, along with enough mana to give it a few good enchantments and equipment, I can easily swing for player killing damage with a small handful of creatures. Without that card in play, it takes a bit longer but I can pull mana so quickly I can typically still throw down a good combination of powerful trample creatures and some instances or enchantments to augment them. The beastmaster makes it devastating though. I can rush out big creatures quickly enough but there's a difference between swinging for 3, 5 and 6 with trample or swinging for 8, 10 and 11 with trample. It's coming together into a pretty vicious deck, it still needs some help though, my hand empties fast and I end up playing from the draw which is why I'm going to try and add some "draw a card" spells. That would make me a little more vulnerable to mill decks but my play-style is pretty fast anyways so it would help to keep my hand full.

I may be necroing this thread hard, but looking around the forum, I couldn't help but post in this.

What kind of deck/s do you play?

I actually just went to a tournament tonight. Holy fuck. It was my first time inside a cardshop in over 10 years. Did you know warhammer is still a thing? Anyways those guys were intense. I didn't have money for the tourney and my deck would have been obliterated anyway but I watched my buddy play three rounds and his opponents were brutal. One guy he went against basically made him discard his entire hand by his second turn. I don't know what you call that kind of deck but I call it castration.

I played Tempered Steel last format. (G/W artifacts, aggro)

I play RDW (splash blue), for RtR format.

I'm planning on playing either RG ramp or Esper Tempo come Gatecrash.

To be honest I'm new to the game and I have no idea what you just said. I watched a modern tournament last night and felt like I was in a foreign country. My deck isn't that great but it was made out of my friends throw away cards. It could be a lot better but I'd need to buy my own box to really work on it. I can't use jargon to describe it so I'll just detail it the long way.

It's basically built around the wild beastmaster. It utilizes roaring primadoxes to recycle bond beatles into the battlefield and build counters on the beastmaster. It also uses chorus of might, giant growth and titanic growth for the same effect, boosting the beast master until she's as strong as possible and trampling the fuck out of my opponent as quickly as I can. I also depend heavily on mana ramping so I've got llanowar elves, cultivates and rangers paths to help that game. I can use the primodoxes to recycle acidic slimes to get rid of nastier enchantments and artifacts, and I use a handful of swell creatures like timbermaw larvae, in conjunction with some roughshod mentors to help me trample my opponent hard and fast.

It's not a deck to use in a tournament but it was built to defeat my friend's unstoppable Ajani life-gain deck (where it only takes about ten turns for him to get 100 life and likewise have a couple 100/100 tokens out). I use the beast tracker card to rush out my deadly recluses to give him enough pause I can mount an attack. In a perfect game, it's possible to swing for over 500 damage in a single turn.

If I modified it I'd probably make it golgari but keep it centered on the wild beastmaster. I would want it to be golgari so I can use that one enchantment that lets me double the counters I put on a target creature, and I'd replace a lot of my creatures with scavenge creatures so I can get that fucker up to a 30/30 in five turns, then throw down a handful of chorus of mights and giant/titanic growths on her. I'd also utilize black spells to keep my opponent's hand empty so they can't fuck with my strategy as easily.

Wow memories of 1995 coming back to me now it never goes away anyways lol
