Thread: Very interesting dream recently

Last night I had a dream which I remembered having part of before.
I dreamt I was in a relationship with a woman who was developing a new computer operating system. We were walking together one day on a sidewalk next to a street and were approaching an intersection when a truck veered off the road and headed for us. She pushed me out of the way and got hit by the truck and died instantly, along with the driver.
A movie was made about the woman and it was called something like “Those who’s paths change” or something close to that. A year or so later I traveled to Arizona or somewhere around there and visited the guy who directed the movie, where I met another woman and we had just started talking.
I hadn’t yet told the director or the woman that I was the partner of the woman that the movie was about. At this point in the dreams timeline a subculture and fan base had developed for the operating system and people had finished it on their own, and developed it into a kind of free social platform that people could design things like games etc for and share them with everyone on the system.
I remember at the end of it all I felt a sort of lonely disconnection with the director and the woman, because I felt like I wanted to share my identity with them but for sone reason I was reluctant to, and there was a form of comfort and familiarity in that feeling of social isolation.

That's really weird. I would have told them, although it might have been awkward. Sometimes things do come true that happen in dreams first.

You know what. I think I read your post wrong. For some reason, it seemed like you were talking about a dream, and then real life. Whoops.

In the dream, did you feel that sharing your identity with them would serve a particular purpose in regards to how they would portray your dream partner? I understand what you mean about the disconnect though.

Either way, a very interesting dream indeed!

Maybe you didn't want to seem like you were piggybacking on her notoriety. Especially using someones death as a gain (even in a small way) feels weird.
I have no idea what it means though.

The idea for the OS sounds great though. Someone should make something like that. All social platforms are regurgitated nonsense usually. To have something where people create games and share them is a great idea. I'm sure something like this must exist, but it could be done better. Like how the original home computers of the 80s would just start up and give you a programming platform from the beginning. It wouldn't have to be too advanced, but the main point is that you start with an empty screen and make whatever you want of it with simple code. Then people can share online. Game consoles now a days encourage consumerist culture and prevent creativity. Plug a game and go. But if it starts with a blank slate where it's very easy for you to create something, it's a fantastic idea.
I got carried away, but I think this idea should be taken further.

Something I noticed this past week for the first time about social isolation....If you naturally share the same outlook as a lot of other people, you have that companionship, but in a way its harder to know yourself. Psychically you lose yourself in the crowd. But if you're an outlier, you're in some way more at home in the solitude.

In regards to the woman getting hit by the truck, I've had this feeling before about people who have died or somehow failed in life, that it was a sacrifice for the rest of us, but I can't articulate that very well.

The operating system seems to me like it could be a metaphor for a collective thought.
