I think snoopy's interpretation is great. However, there is a part of the dream that bothers me: you threw the small animal down. Yes, the tiger dies, but at what price? Do you compromise your family values, become an aggressor yourself, blur the difference between right and wrong? Yes, the issue is resolved at the end, but is this the solution you want?
Although alternatively this could be about self sacrifice: that you need to sacrifice a small part of yourself, or the part of you that is small (fear? Insecurity? Judging others? Or some other perceived flaw that you may see in your own personality) and become strong in order to overcome the issue. So the animal sacrifice is not necessarily bad. The dream is saying that the resolution is up to you: your action, not an external rescue.
