When we feel fear and anxiety our body is telling us that something dangerous is happening or about to happen. This response provoces us to fight or flee. Because of that the mind wants us to avoid feelings of fear and anxiety, since these feelings tell us we are in danger of dying. Therefor it seems very logical to try and control or avoid your feelings. But that usually only leads to more suffering. So I would say that you think that you have to avoid the really painful feelings that naturally will come up in a situation like this. |
