You know my immediate reaction is that the fox is your developing intuition. Always listen to your gut.
I don't know what the girl is, but I imagine the rock is a fact and the fox sitting on it, with an elevated view, is what you're thinking based on the known fact. Everything in dreams is a part of you, you just have to imagine being each part.
