I cannont smeel anything or talk when I am in a lucid dream. When I try talking its really weird. I think to myself what I want to say and then it just kinda happens but I can't hear myself say it. Like today I was trying to yell "Lucidity now!!!", and it worked, but I couldnt hear myself say it. I also have to think before I speak, I cant just talk freely. Anyone else have this problem?

I talk freely in my lucid dreams, but I have no control over what I say, I also don't remember smelling anything... Try taking time to smell things more in real life.

The sense of smell is really hard to do in LDs so don't worry about it. Talking though isn't really that hard, just "think" what you're saying, that some times helps.

I sort of just project my thoughts to DC's if I'm in a conversation. That's what it seems like anyway. The other night I smelled something in my dreams that almost made me puke.

Just last night I told my family in a lucid dream that I was dreaming and that i had to go.

But when I spoke, it was like I was speaking with my mouth closed...
Actually, the first sylobel (Spelt SOOO wrong >_<) was able to come out, but after that it was like my voice cracked and I couldn't talk anymore.

So I know exactly wut yer talking about, it's quite annoying really.

oh..I tend the have the oppisite problem! in my lucid dreams when I talk I can feel my lips and mouth move as they should and I can hear myself speak. It feels so much like real talking I get afraid to talk in a lucid dream, out of the fear that I am actually sleep talking and someone in the house will hear me. I'm also afraid to scream in a lucid dream, like a magical incantation to defeat some monster I summoned. I get afraid the scream will actually wake me up. So a lot of times in my lucid dreams, I whisper. I have problem talking in NON lucid dreams though, I can never scream for help in a nightmare for example.

as for a sense of smell, I've never bothered to try and smell things in a lucid dream before? I should try that! But I have smelled things before in normal dreams, and they were never pleasant smells. Tars, oils, fumes and garbage. The smells get so intense I felt like throwing up.

I can't talk loudly in dreams, for some reason I can only whisper. If it's a nightmare and I try to scream, it's like someone breathing out.. "ahhhhh"... at the same volume as a whisper.
Also if I try to run in a nightmare it feels like I'm trying to run in water. If it's a good dream, I run like the wind, LOL.

I can never smell anything... not that I remember, anyway.
How do I know if this is really happening? For all I know, I'm asleep and typing on my pillow!

I never try to talk normally in a lucid dream because I know the words are not coming out of your mouth. Try working more on telepathy this is normally how you are communicating anyway. Trying to focuse on your mouth will not give you good results but use your mind and speak withing your mind. Just like in the real world when you are thinking of something and you are almost sort of speaking within your thoughts, this is how you communicate in your dreams.

Usually in dreams it seems like you are running in slow motion because you are somehow connected to your real body which is of course in bed. During REM periods your body hits Sleep Paralysis so when you are dreaming your body is Paralysised to a certian degree, so when you are running in a dream it feels heavy and it seems like slow motion becuase you are trying to use your physical legs. The fact that sometimes you can run like the wind is because your mind is actually associating to the dream body where it has no ties to the physical world.

That's odd, I can talk like a normal person in my dreams, I really never was concerned with how loud I've yelled in my sleep, I know I sleep talk sometimes and have said some very embarrassing things while sleeping off a mild hangover in the Philippines, but that is probably because I wake up to loud noises made by my worst enemy, the alarm clock.

I never knew that it was hard to smell in a LD, I've always had all my senses perfectly in tune with me. I wonder if that's just because I've been LDing for a long time (before I even knew what LDs were) but in compensation to that, I have less control than others who've had LDs or practiced LDing for as long as I have. (I've had LDs as long as I can remember, but have only practiced for a few years)

But could it be that you do smell when you're in a LD and forget it when you wake up since it's only a detail of the 'big picture'?
