Thread: BD Tasks

Would some of you BDers be interested in having your own Task of the Month? Loaf has already suggested one: share a dream with another DVer. Anyone else have some more suggestions? Is this something you guys want to do?

That sounds like fun actually

Though I'm into some beyond dreaming topics, I don't tend to discuss them here on the forum so my opinion probably doesn't matter much.

But I just wanted to say that for a while I was into tasking. But when Deep Dreaming first began it was all about tasking. Between having the task of the month, Deep Dreaming tasks and personal tasks on my mind all the time, I just got completely burnt out on tasking. It kind of took the freedom out of dreaming. And for me it's the freedom that makes being Lucid so much fun in the first place.

But it's still a cool idea for those interested. If I got involved in it I would rather be doing it in Deep Dreaming though.

Well, there is this carnival, with old dock pilings, and shades of people that used to make up dream teams and make up dream stories, and have energetic battles with gif images and avatars, and shout at them, using horror fiction language, falling into puddles.
I would say a task would be: Find which ones are not involved.

You could maybe talk with someone I have been meeting since I was small, Mosh. If you wanted to.

That would not involve me. I could just give Aquanina a specific, which would show if you found them.

But he is not concerned with human things, so even if you went looking...it would be up to him, if you met him.

There was one other person, one time, who wanted to meet him. They tried for a while, and then asked me, to ask him, to meet them...but it would not work if I asked for them.

Moppo is the only one who he has spoken with me about. And the only one he has even noticed.

But you could try and talk with him, if you wanted to.

I once Had a dream that I was in a library of dreamers. I asked around on some sorcery forums:

All sorceric dreaming that one does leaves a permanent record of intent that can be discovered by other sorceric dreamers. Depending on how you interpret these things, probably the best thing to do would be to hold one of the "books" in your hands and say out loud that you want to meet those sorcerers in person. That way you could possibly acquire some gifts of power from them and even create new sorceric records.

If you move it to deep dreaming, where people have to be accepted into it, then you shut the door to others finding it.

It seems to defeat the purpose.

I would totally be interested in some BD tasks!

I don't really have tons of ideas for them... I'm sure others could come up with some much better ones.

But two personal (and related) goals I have are

Ask my DG some spiritual questions
Ask a DC some spiritual questions.

And see what kind of answers I get

Yup, definetly interested in a BD task of the month. As a natural LDer with many BD style experiences, I do sometimes find the regular Task Of The Month a little mundane and often easy. Would love to have a Task Of The Month to really push my skills.

So I was thinking about this before falling asleep last night...what if we had a Dream Views festival that lasted for a whole month. We would encourage all dreamers to meet up at the festival and have fun and spread the word about the DV community. We could have things start pretty simple with a few game booths, and as more people dream about it they can add rides and stuff as they see fit. I still like the idea of just trying to get a new member from the dreamworld, but I'm interested to see what could happen if lots of people are enjoying some kind of DV sponsored dream carnival. It would be cool to have some kind of official DV meetup place at least. Maybe if the dream share crew doesn't mind, we could have the festival be on the moon or something.

I was thinking the other day that maybe we can try creating a shared dreaming space, and see how many people dream of it

Just so long as its not the moon, lol, I had enough trouble getting up there. Maybe some place more simple, like a beach. Or it could be a building! I dreamed I went to a lucid dream class. I thought it would be cool if we made that into a dreaming space, and anyone can go to the dreaming class at night and get the personalized lesson they need.....hmm......maybe a creating a shared dreaming space could be our BD Task?

Yeah! Let's do it. An official shared dreaming space. I'm more in favor of something large and outdoors so it will be easier to find, hence the suggestion for the carnival. I also have trouble getting to the moon lol, I think we should just have it be it's own place like on an island in the middle of the pacific or something like that. Dream Views tropical island retreat. What do you guys think, should this be our first official BD task? I can move these posts to that thread if you want so we aren't hijacking nomads thread

I would be horrified if someone thought we were possessive of the dream-moon! The Biodome and the City of Nod are for all dreamers from all dimensions to come and visit, as long as they are friendly.

I have seen you on the Moon, in the Biodome, planting flowers. But, anyway, it is hard for a lot of people to go to the Moon, because of belief, and other reasons... But, that's a story for Deep Dreaming. (or you could search my dj for 'wormhole wyrm').

How about Hanauma Bay on Oahu? An island in the middle of the Pacific, and Hanauma Bay is very picturesque. It's a marine sanctuary, perfect for snorkeling. It's full of fish, since no fishing is allowed. Hanauma Bay is a sunken volcanic crater, and there are millions of pictures of it.

I was thinking, we could have a day time, and a night time event. (So if you go there in the day, it'd be one thing, if you go there at night it'd be something else.)

Some ideas:

signs everywhere that say: YOU ARE DREAMING

Impossible carnival rides

A time machine

A magic mirror

A star-gate

A teleporter

A battle-tent

A school

A bar

a dance club

a spa

a meditation space

a campground

a dispensary

a school

a farm of mythical steeds

a farm of mythical pets and familiars

How about booths where we sell things for nothing?

food booths

weapons booths

armor booths

artifact booths

jewelry booths

clothes booths

a nametag, and greeting booth

Shows:

A fireworks show

Concerts

Magic show

i like the carnival idea because it would open the space to people of all ld skill levels...

beaches work for me, i love going to the beach!

could be like a dream-themed "burning man", too! (rather than a carnival)

some people set up booths or pavilions, others are more in the visitor mode to these places...

wherever it was located!

and i feel totally welcomed on the moon, always got a very inclusive vibe there ...so wherever it is, it's about setting the collective intention. you could have a moon-base wherever this is located.

That's quite a list! Maybe we should ask each dreamer who comes to our little beach party to add something to it?

I like the carnival idea but my only complaint of this whole BD Task list is what's next after April is done. Are we doing another meeting of some kind or is there something else that has already been planned?

Visit a friend, and see if they can remember any of it the next day.

BD tasks would be very fun. Should we have a badge for it?

YES and sounds awesome!

I have already been there.

There is a parking area, made of dirt, that is muddy in places.

An info booth...where people get tickets and stuff too.

There was one person, in costume, who was walking around, and had a bag of other costumes, and was bringing them around for others to use if they wanted...

I met one guy, who had gotten some sort of rash type thing, all over his torso...and he was showing it. It looked like the spots on the avatar beings, but he was humanish, and the spots were redish. He was asking someone about them.

But I was dreaming in this place, almost five of these linear years ago. Long before the avatar thing came about...so that is just a visual for describing.

It was an outdoors place, which slowly fades into an indoor place.

After the info booth, and then to the left, passed the public bathrooms, where the rash guy was...then along to the left from there, through and passed the parking area?

That is where the indoors area began.

There were alot of tables, like those 8' cafeteria tables.

Nearest the outdoors area, the tables were set up with dream crafts, things that people had made, that were for trade, or sale.

And then to walk further into the tables, that became the area where the ones who were working the amusment park.carnival, could go to sit and eat...some were.

Others were doing various things, practicing what they were going to be doing.

On the far wall, there is a door, just a regular sized door, which goes to_____

And that is where many of the people who were running the place, were coming in. But the others, who were there to visit, or like when people come to see the place, or however...they were not in the back areas. They were coming in on the one road to there.

The road, it comes through a forest area, then along this highway, with alot of curved bridges...and then into this area...where it becomes a dirt road, into the parking area.

There were some signs and things, which at the time, I had not read. There were of course, no lights in them, they were more like wooden painted signs.

I was not interested even then, to get involved with running it, or doing things there. I was just looking out, wondering what the heck I was doing there. Because some lady and guy had driven me there. And they just got out of the car, and sort of blended right into that place, so then I was alone, looking around.

But I found Moppon there, in the back. Not being part of that place, just there, so we were doing something different, there. And I left that place with him.

I could draw out the layout of the place, because it is actually already there.

But it is not something I am interested in doing, as far as being involved with it.
I just happened to have been there. Which is just something I do.

I like both ideas - the carnival, and the island resort. Although, if we're going to do this, then it would be helpful if pictures would be posted - of the place, I mean.

I like the idea of an island. We can always put a carnival on the island.

Maybe we can also come up with an easy way to get into the middle of the ocean. Like if there were portals, or a password that you can say at any door and it will turn into a portal to the island/carnival.

And the idea about the password - you got my vote.
