the problem I see with this thread is the same as all the others
people still don't understand what the LOA is, how its supposed to work, how you are supposed to make it work for yourself, how it only works for YOURSELF, not for others *you can not LOA a better world for example, only a better life for yourself*
the LOA is a very meditative process, that can only change the outcome for YOU. and why so many practitioners fail at it, its process is alien to westerners!
one of the most important things in the LOA is to ask what you want. but this is one of the most difficult things actually. people only think they know what they want in their life, but in actuality the things they thought they want they don't really want. so part of the reason why people are miserable is because they don't know what they want in life!!!
a lot of people who took the LOA seriously will tell you it forced them to understand them self, and every irrational doubt and fear they carry through life, that they beforehand didn't realize they were carrying
here is a common fear/doubt that lots of poor people carry "sigh, I can't get a better job" "no one is going to hire me"
or even, the irrational fear/doubt I was carrying that the LOA brought to my attention was "I can't leave this job!". So on the plus side, the LOA helps you do some soul-searching.
the LOA teaches the importance of your emotions as a form of energy. The importance of remaining positive, firm and strong. This doesn't mean giddy up trippy happy when there is real suffering, or coming off as ignorant. Real positive emotion is more than being happy, it is the ultimate self control over your own emotions. Some people are naturally like this, and thus they are successful in life. but when normal people practice the LOA seriously, they can see just how much throughout the day they are carrying negative emotions. Which, does nothing good for them. Therefore their negative emotions are irrational.
Can you think yourself free apachama? Freedom is first and foremost a construct of the mind. The LOA rides on the belief that everything is energy. EVERYTHING. To LOA believers, sending out energy can influence the overall consciousness of man. Because consciousness is also energy.
We have seen a similar phenomenon happen when a generation grows up with a particular type of music, their values are different than their parents. Music is energy. And that energy can, and does, influence how we feel and think.
Any change, even changing the government and reclaiming freedom MUST FIRST HAPPEN ON A MENTAL LEVEL. If no one thinks, "Things have to change" then things don't change. If no one believes things will change, then everyone doubts and gives up and, NOTHING CHANGES. So yes change, must first happen with your own thoughts.
Here are two scenarios. Imagine a world where no one believes in a happier future. That the future will be dull, boring, miserable and meaningless. How does this affect peoples behaviors?? How does this affect the way people treat each other?
Look at americans, who think their nation will always be as it is - a fake democracy. Has this not made americans..APATHETIC AND LAZY?? Since they don't think things will change, they do nothing.
You don't believe. NOTHING HAPPENS. Believing is the first step to change. But the LOA does teach the idea that thoughts go out into the universe, return as a manifested outcome. OUTCOME. That outcome can mean - a physical activity that you commit.
The LOA rides on the belief that everything is energy. That thoughts create/attract. But no where in the LOA does it say this process is magical, or instant. Actually in the Secret they describe your thoughts, a form of energy, traveling out into the universe before it returns back to you as a materialized outcome. They don't go far into it, but create an image that time is involved. As well as the laws of physics. When you listen to the idea of your thoughts returning back to you as an outcome, it becomes a karmic image. Yet I don't see anyone laughing at the idea of karma.
the LOA teaches part of the reason why we don't think our thoughts create is because our thoughts are constantly conflicting with each other. Like multiple stones being tossed into a pool. Their ripples cancel each other out and you get nothing distinguishable. Just an indistinguishable mess.
That's why the LOA is actually fairly meditative.
You have to know yourself, focus, remain positive, have intent, believe, and then let-go of all irrational fears and doubts.
things westerners aren't brought up doing.
Again, it has to do with energy more than you just thinking something in your head. If you think "I have money" but are actually feeling down in the dumps, then your emotion of lack is what is sent out to the universe. Not the words in our head, "I have money". The outcome as the LOA describes is, you get lack. Words are just monkey sounds. Its the pure wordless thought that really matters.
Why do LOA practitioners talk in the present form? One of the obstacles, actually the largest obstacle is doubt. Just like on this forum we teach if you doubt you can have a lucid dream, your probably won't. Or if you doubt you can have control in a lucid dream, then you don't - the same applies.
One way to counter-act doubt is to role-play a little. Imagine it. Daydream it. They are trying to convince themselves that they have these things right now, to overcome the doubt that they can not have these things. Otherwise they constantly see it in some distant non-existent future. I know it comes off as silly to others, but its only because we are such a doubt based society that the LOA has had to teach this technique.
despite what you think about the LOA....everything is energy
but its absolutely understandable if you don't agree with the mystical view of the science that thoughts manifest/return/attract things onto you. but the practice will at least give you added focus on life, especially if you feel lost.
