The purpose of lucid dreaming, in my opinion, is to do whatever you want that you can't do in waking life (like flying, talking to subconscious, or breathing underwater). We all compare the dream world to waking life - which has limits and rules - whereas dreams don't have any of these things stopping us. So comparing the two makes the dream world the best place ever.
But if you were in it forever, you would get bored quickly. There would be no normality and you don't have to work for things like you do in real life. It'd be really dull. Plus, you wouldn't feel alive. You wouldn't see your real family, friends, pets and anything else of importance to you. DCs just don't feel the same as the real thing. The mere thought of never seeing my friends and family scare me. I love them to bits.
So would I dream forever? No. But if I had the chance to have a week long lucid, then yes I'd love to go on a nice dream vacation!
