Can you gain lucidity with an irregular sleep pattern?

I get insomnia most nights, and I travel from house to house so the time I go to sleep and the time I have to wake up varies a lot. I've had experience with lucid dreams before but not for a long time. I've been doing reality checks and am keeping a DJ, sometimes I wake up after every REM with full memory of the dream, sometimes I wake up in the morning with no memory of waking during the night. Is it possible to become lucid when my sleep patterns are always random? And which induction technique is best for someone like me?

You could try to take a nap during the afternoon if you have time for it, a lot of people finds easier to get lucid during an afternoon nap. Or you could try WILD, that is harder to use during the night but with a lot of training can even help you fall sleep

Sure it's possible. WILD can work with crazy sleep patterns, but so will DILD. If you work hard on your mental prep (RC's, self-awareness exercises, building expectation/intention, maybe some MILD practice) without regard to a specific method, you should find the best route to your lucidity with just a little experimenting. Who knows? You might discover that your sleep pattern, or lack thereof, is just the thing for getting lucid!

CAT - or cycle adjustment technique works on something similar. But that assumes, that your patterns is at least a bit stable.

Let's say you sleep for one week till 5am. Next week you sleep till 7 am. Since your body is used and expected to be awake after 5 am, all sleep you do after 5am will give you better chance at becoming lucid.

I'm not sure though how long you need to keep one schedule for it to be effective.

But as it was said above, you can DILD and WILD without regard of when you sleep. As long as you get enough sleep. But you can have lucids even after shorter sleep, it's just bit easier if you sleep longer. Good luck
