Well I do my reality checks(Nose pinch, fingers through palm) and then think about the fact that I have an impact people around me and people around me have an impact on me. Then I spend a couple of minutes studying a few aspects of the room I'm in, making sure they're geometrically sound and make sense. Then I spent about 20-30 secs thinking about how objects around the room could represent other objects, for example, the clock as a sun etc.
I'm going to try this
While you are watching and listening to your teacher explaining something on the blackboard, pay attention to your entire field of vision. Listen to the sound of the pens in the class scratching and ticking. Feel the texture and weight of your own pen. There are constant sounds of people moving their legs, coughing, writing, breathing, talking, etc. It is always possible to be more aware.
As for in between classes: there will be a lot of voices, foodsteps and people walking around. Each of them has their own clothes, faces, shadows, and so on. The wall and floor have their own textures. Ever noticed the location of the cameras and motion sensors?
But don't forget: the most important thing is not to notice all that there is to notice. The most important thing about ADA is that you are constantly aware of your surroundings. If you have to concentrate on school, reduce your awareness sufficiently to be able to focus. Make sure that you don't forget about being awake and aware, that is the most important thing about ADA
I'm beginning to understand how i can practice ADA in class thanks man!
1. A Dot on your Hand
No joke, this seems silly but its SO effective. I put a small pen dot on my dominant hand's thumb, and I see it all day. Everytime I see it, I do a small or in-depth RC depending on the situation I'm in at the time. This constant RCing leads to practically all day awareness, and it makes it harder to forget to RC when I am busy. For example, just by typing this I looked at my keyboard and coincidentally saw the dot on my thumb, making me RC!
I'm going to try this for sure!!! I mostly forget RC's and ADA but with that dot, I'm not going to forget to do all this stuff
None of these compare to my favorite, patented check that I call the Door Check. Simply walk to a door, imagine anything you want behind it, and see if it materializes, or if the room takes a while to shift into focus after swinging the door open. If not - reality!
I'm also going to try this because I have to go through doors alot
