Attaining lucidity through experiencing dreams "live" ?

I consider my dream recall pretty average - I usually recall 1-4 dreams a night,
depending on how long I sleep, how tired I am etc.
While my dream recall is not terrible, I mostly seem to recall dreams which I experience in real-time - I sort of watch the events as they unfold, rather than recalling them when I wake.
Much the same way as a lucid dream, or real life events, but without the same level of control.

Sometimes I am slightly aware that I am in a dream, yet not lucid enough to break the flow of the dream and control my actions - I just sort of passively "observe" what my dream-self decides to do, although usually in 1st person.
These dreams happen quite frequently, lately I've had a few each night.
On weekends when I decide to sleep a little longer they seem to be more frequent - sometimes coupled with the realization that I am experiencing a dream, and that I can wake myself up at any time.
It's quite a weird feeling, but I always wake up and feel completely refreshed from the experience.

I'm not sure whether or not this is "normal", but I figured there has to be some way to utilize it in becoming lucid.
I'm sure some of the more experienced people on these forums have had similar experiences and could perhaps offer some advice.

I never recall my dreams by laying still in bed. I remember them because I experienced them more aware, which it seems like you are too.
This is good! This is the kind of recall you want to have,, because you will have alot of spontanious lucid dreams, as you already have mentioned.
And the quality of your lucid dreams will also increase

But I can't figure out any other advantage than more awareness of your dreams in general, but just that alone is not so bad either
The only advice I can give you, is that you recall as much dreams as you can so your awareness increase even more, until lucid dreaming becomes as easy as your recall is now!

      Good luck

Keep with it aerilith, you are right on the brink of lucidity in them dreams! practise makes perfect after all.

I've only had a few dreams where I knew I was dreaming, but like you, not lucid enough to break the flow and fully realise - im dreaming.

All I can say is, keep doing what you're doing, the more attention you pay to your dreams, the more you will recognise them!

I was actually hoping you'd chime in to the thread - a few weeks after I started my DJ, these dreams started occurring. Around that time, I saw a short post you made, where you talked about how you recalled dreams by experiencing them as they happen.
This has also become my main way of dream recall, and I rarely make entries in my DJ (except for lucid dreams).
I often have the feeling that I am quite close to lucidity in these dreams, so I guess working on my awareness is a good suggestion. I tried using ADA, but making it a habit seems tough for me.

I'm sure if I could increase my overall awareness, many of them would be lucids - lately I've been trying to experiment and see if I can find something that works.
