A Way To Help With DEILDing?

So with DEILDing, you have to wake up after a dream you were having, and in order to achieve that a good method is to repeat to yourself something like "I will be aware when I awake after a dream" or something like that. So I just thought, what if you record yourself saying that, and then play it on a continuos loop?

Therefore, you wouldn't have to remember saying it, and it will play while you are dreaming.

The only thing I can think, is that when you wake up. Once you wake up and don't move, and start to DEILD this will be playing in the background and potentially distract you.

Tell me what you think, and also is there a website or something that will play a song for a certain amount of time, then stop?

I think it would be difficult to time the loop correctly so that it plays when you wake up, and I don't personally think I could fall asleep to myself repeating that over and over again (haha). You might be able to use a sound instead though, and every time you hear it do a reality check and play that. It depends on what you can sleep through/with.

Lol, ya thats true. I thought of this from my friend. We had a big social studies test, and what he did was that he recorded himself asking the questions, and saying the answers. Then he said when he woke up in the morning, he remembered every one perfectly.

I was thinking, if you can remember answers to a questions this way, then why can't you remember to realize when you wake up this way.

Like I said the only problem is that when you wake up to do a DEILD, the loop would distract you... I will try this tonight and see how it goes.

      DragonMaster21:

The Lucidity Institute (run by Stephen LaBerge) once sold a device called (I think) the Dream Speaker that, when connected to a Dream Light or Nova Dreamer, could do exactly what you describe, with whatever recorded message you want. I even bought one. Trouble is, it didn't work. It was technically fine, even impressive, and certainly functioned as advertised. But it still did not work.

Why? Because re-entry in DEILD is all about intention, focus, and maintenance of lucid awareness. The cleverest recording in the world, timed to play the instant you emerge from a dream, will fail every time if you are not mentally prepared to reenter the dreamworld. And, if you are prepared, you won't need any help to successfully DEILD. And you are correct; if you're not prepared, the recording will be a distraction.

Stick to perfecting your sense of self, and maintaining your awareness after you wake from a LD, and DEILD will work just fine... "shortcuts" like the recording you suggest, no matter how well timed, will more likely delay success than accelerate it.

I see what you mean. Now that you say this I can see why it wouldn't work. If you are trying to get something in to your head, and understand it, you don't just want to have a recording to listen to over and over. From the DEILD guides I have seen, they say that when you are repeating a mantra, you want to actually understand what you are saying and not just repeat it over and over.

      That is it exactly, DragonMaster21.
