      Can reality checks stop working?

I had a false awakening and became lucid through the nose pinch reality check, and then after going into my parents bedroom and then the kitchen, I did the nose pinch reality check again (Kind of to remind myself I was dreaming I guess, but I don't entirely remember) , and it didn't work. I tried it twice to make sure and then drifted off into a non-lucid dream after I was convinced that I was awake. I remember thinking about how I could have woke up, and I was kind of confused, but I definitely remember the reality check not working.... Any suggestions?

that happened to me once, idk why it didnt work. so at that time I conjured a doggy to make sure that its a dream. flying is more easier.

whats the nose pinch RC? do you pinch your nose? or is that the one with blocking nose then trying to breathe?

Yeah. It's the one where you block your nose and try to breathe. I actually couldn't breathe through it that time. It was really vivid and realistic, or else I don't think I would have convinced myself I wasn't dreaming.

RC's are good, just have a range of them. If they don't work, try dream signs.

Welcome to Dreamviews by the way. If you have any questions you can ask me. I'm not a pro or anything, but I know a few things.

Nose pinch never worked for me tbh, I can always feel the pressure / can't breathe and the sensation is pretty convincing.
I usually cover my right eye and try looking at my nose, if it's not there then I'm dreaming

Yea try to use multiple RCs such as merely examining your hand or looking at a digital clock/text and then looking away and then looking back and the text 9/10 will have changed.

I personally remember dreams where I've tried the finger through the palm trick and it's failed....so as someone said keep plenty of options. Once you expect something to not work it probably wont imo.

One that has NEVER failed me is to turn around and fully expect something/someone to be there.
I don't know about you but seeing a talking cheetah is enough for me

I think RC's failing within your dreams come from not performing them properly. RC's shouldn't be done as an action, they are designed to bring you awareness.

If all you do when you RC is just try and poke your finger through your hand and see what happens, even when you do it in your dreams it will just not work. When you RC you need to pause, become aware of all of your senses, the environment around you, the feeling in the room. Does anything stand out? How do you feel? ARE you dreaming? Make sure! Expect to be dreaming every time you do an RC, know full well that you are able to push your finger through your hand, or breathe in through your nose. You need to doubt everything around you, and always have confidence in your RC's.

I used to have failed RC's until I realised that I was just doing them too often and too fast. I started really questioning reality whenever I did them, and combined them with awareness whenever I did, and I haven't had one fail since.
