      Dreaming of Lucid Dreaming

Hey so recently Ive started doing a RC(counting my fingers) frequently, trying to do it every hour with my watch's hourly beep. Last night, I had a dream where I counted my fingers and found about 3 extra, and in the dream I thought I was lucid, while not actually being conciously lucid( if that makes any sense ) and I began jumping huge distances but wasn't really lucid. Just wondering if there's anyone who's had a dream about being lucid or has any tips on how to ensure I become lucid with the RC.

This can be caused by doing reality checks without paying attention. A simple remedy is to be more aware. When you do a reality check take a look at your surroundings and see if anything is strange. Remind yourself why you are doing the reality check.

Also thinking about lucid dreaming can cause it to become a plot in one of your dreams. Normally you become lucid. But some times, like in your case, you do not become lucid and it is just part of the dream plot.

Keep up the reality checks but focus on actualy checking reality.

I've had that happen, and it makes me quite mad. Feels like your brain is playing a cruel joke on you

That makes sense, most of the time I do it I'm slightly preoccupied, and don't put the full meaning of it into my brain.

I've done this way too many times... I realise that I'm dreaming but I'm still my dream-self instead of my real-self-in-a-dream. It's called semilucidity. I think it helps to not just do the basic reality checks, but to consistently ask yourself through your waking day, "How did I get here? What did I do directly before this?" and then actually force yourself to think about it. If you can't remember what you did before this, you're dreaming. Or you have amnesia.

      Keep on truckin.

This happens to me too, sometimes (several recent). I guess in the dream when you recognize a dream sign, sometimes you're not all there. You know that you're dreaming but don't gain a full sense of awareness. These dreams are a good sign, though, as it shows that you are well on your way to having full-blown lucids.
