Following the success of the previous photography task thread, here comes the next one!

The task of the next 10 days will be landscapes, although not limited to nature. Vistas of cities also work fine. Generally though, just pick up your camera and go for a hike, perhaps catch a bus to outside of town.
Generally when doing landscape photography, it's a good idea to reach a higher place than your immediate surroundings. Avoid capturing stuff very close to you like bushes or grass. These are just tips though! You can expand on the idea any way you like.

And remember, it's a competition, so post what you have so you can win and become the best photographer on DreamViews! For 10 days anyways.

This thread was deleted by the crash, but with a bit of Googlefu I was able to resurrect it.

A bunch of people posted some pictures they took like 100 years ago, in the old version of this thread. This was quite possibly the reason Alex decided to crash the servers. Old pictures won't do it people. Go out and snap some new stuff. That's the point of these threads!

And here's my first entry. I think I'll redo it tomorrow from a better position.

I love the last one. You can see the rain falling from the clouds, with a bit of sun behind it. Just looks utterly beautiful. Do you happen to have a higher resolution version of it ?

Yeah, but only a bit. Here's a link. My digital camera is from late 2004, so it's only got 3 mega pixels.
edit: For some reason dropbox will return a 404 if you follow this link, but return the picture if you copy the address and paste in a new window.
re-edit: Found the issue and updated the link. Works as expected now.

Where can you upload full res shots anyways?

DV allows it I believe, but also sites like Minus - Share simply. and ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting are decent. In particular min.us is very fast and neat, I like it.

Ah I see, yeah the lower resolution version definitely works out better, it's way sharper.

Yeah, I guess I should start using my tripod to get sharper images, and that I really need a new camera. But I can't afford one right now, so it'll have to wait for Christmas.

Tripods are really nice, though if you have to choose between a new camera or a tripod, I suggest get a camera. You can easily do a ton of stuff freehand.

I've already got a tripod, actually. Got one when my grandparents were cleaning their house. It's actually strange how much cool crap that builds up during a life-time.

I got my current flash from my mother, who used it on her old film camera. Surprisingly, they're compatible, though they don't communicate apart from when to fire the flash.
