Problem with WILD from WBTB

I was trying a WILD last night from waking up from a dream in the middle of the night but i couldn't stay still long enough. My legs kept really aching so I stretched them out and then lay still again but I could just not get comfortable! I ended up just moving constantly like every 20 seconds and couldn't lie there to do a WILD. I fell asleep in the end.

I've attempted WILDs before going to sleep before and I can lie there comfortably for an hour so I know I can lie there and it's not just about discipline, but after being asleep I just get really uncomfortable in the same position. Does anyone else get this? Any advice? Have I just got to grit my teeth and lie still for as long as possible? I don't get that uncomfortable but I just feel like I have to move after just 20 seconds for some reason!

Keep trying. I get this sometimes but not usually. I do not believe trying to force it will help though; if you are uncomfortable than just move and try to think of something else.

I do some WILDs before sleeping but they are universally short because of the sleep cycles and not really worth the effort. Program yourself to wake up often during the night, and instead of reaching for that dream journal try to WILD every time.

Personally I almost never stay in the same spot. When I wake up I immediately flip over without opening my eyes and WILD swiftly back into a dream.

Thanks for the advice. Yeh I know how hard it can be to WILD before sleep so I won't bother doing that anymore-I've never had a WILD but then I've not really tried after a WBTB until the other night. I might try a FILD if possible, or just keep moving until I find a comfortable spot for more than 5 mins!

How long are you staying up during your WBTBs? If it's a long time, you may want to shorten that amount. If it's really brief, like five minutes or so, you may want to adjust how long you sleep before you wake up instead of time you stay up. IE if you're sleeping for 5 hours, try sleeping for only 4 hours.

Remember, you should try to approach it as if you're going to sleep on any other occasion. Get as comfortable as needed, and if you feel like moving after 20 seconds, then just move. The last thing you want on your mind is "aw man, I want to move so bad". You should just try to relax and not focus on things that could keep you up all night.

Well it's literally just me waking up and then trying to WILD-I don't actually get out of bed or anything most of the time-so I don't know if this even counts as a WBTB?
That's why I thought a FILD might work as it's quicker.

EDIT-I'm determined to be able to WILD though as I have loads of lucids but they rarely last more than 5 minutes and are kind of unstable so I'm hoping a WILD will make everything longer and more stable with any luck.

No a WBTB is when you actually get up. This works better for some people; particularly if you lose consciousness too easily.

Even if you do decide to try a WBTB, you should still try to WILD without getting up at other times during the night; this way you get in the practice. The reality is that getting up is a pain and so many people don't try to WILD at all when they get lazy. Get in the habit of WILDing everytime you wake up; and perhaps set an alarm for your WBTB time.

usually if i can take a nap a couple of hours after i wake up that seems to produce the best wild opportunity for me through sleep paralysis of course:)
